Aniimo Earth Builds: Best Build for Every Earth Aniimo (Update 1.1)

Earth has no S-tier unit, but its debuff engine (Bailite's Erosion, Bouldus's Disintegration) turns Grizbo and Waleetle into real Fire and Ice killers. Here is the held item, contract, personality, skills and team for every released Earth Aniimo.

Update 1.1 · Oct 20268 Earth builds + Prismana WaleetleGame8 builds, GameWith tiers, Kairos tips

Earth at a glance

Earth is a specialist element: it hits only Fire and Ice for 1.6×, and four elements resist it. Bring it when the shield is Fire or Ice, and build the debuff supports, because they are what make Earth damage competitive.

Earth hits for 1.6×
2

Fire Ice

Earth is resisted (0.625×)
4

Water Grass Earth Dark

Earth takes 1.6× from
2

Water Grass. It resists Fire, Ice, Lightning and Earth, so it is one of the sturdiest defensive types.

Neutral (1×) targets are Lightning, Wind and Light. The trap is the reverse matchup: Water and Grass enemies hit Earth units for 1.6× and resist Earth back. Never bring an Earth team into a Water or Grass fight.

Every Earth Aniimo, ranked

Ranked by Game8's overall tier (Oct 6), then its Earth-only ranking. GameWith's Oct 14 list is shown where it rates the unit; it runs much higher on Earth supports.

Not covered here

Magmarex (Fire + Earth, Game8 B, GameWith S+) is a Fire-first Break unit built around Fire Debuff stacks, so it lives in the Fire guide. Pre-evolutions (Cubbo, Baleetle, Pebbling, Budclaw, Cozite) have no builds of their own; they are listed in each card's foot. Reefish and Coraliz (Earth + Water) are Whisperwake Isle beta creatures and are not released yet.

Earth DPS builds

Both Earth DPS lines are setup carries: Grizbo needs Rage and Claw Marks, Waleetle needs Bouldus's Rock Piles and Overload Energy. Build their partner support at the same time or neither works.

EARTH · DPS · NOVA

Grizbo

EarthDPSRosetower Woods
B

Game8's top Earth unit (S in both its DPS and Earth rankings, B overall). Rock Smash puts it straight into Enraged (+30% skill damage, +25% EP recovery for 20s), and in that state Fanatic Clawing stacks up to 6 Claw Marks that Critical Hit cashes in for +10% of Might each.

Held itemFerocious Fang (GameWith agrees)
ContractYes: Critical Hit keeps 50% of the Claw Mark stacks after it fires, so the next combo starts half-built and costs less EP
PersonalityESTP (E ATK/Break, S +4% damage, T P.DEF, P damage reduction) (GameWith: ESTJ)
Equip skillsCritical Hit + Fanatic Clawing
Potential priorityAttack ★★★★★ › Regen ★★★★ › Break ★★★ = HP ★★★ › P.Def ★★ › M.Def ★
Ultimate / traitRock Smash (instant 100 Rage + Enraged) · Raging Rampage
Rotation: Bailite's Cozite Nest Sentry (and Devastation Cannon) to stack Earth shred, Shrubclaw's The Luminus Gust if you have it, then Grizbo: Rock Smash → Fanatic Clawing until 6 Claw Marks → Critical Hit. Swap to heal or EP. Best team: Bailite, Shrubclaw, Somniwing (Gracewing if you need heals). Evolves from: Cubbo (Lv 47 + Loam Stone ×3, after beating Alpha Grizbo).
⚠️
Skill-name conflict on Game8

Grizbo's unit page recommends Fanatic Clawing, while Game8's List of All Builds names Claw of Madness, the skill unlocked by catching a Prismana Grizbo. Both have the same description (3 claws, double Rage on the third hit, 2 Claw Marks per hit while Enraged). Equip whichever one your Grizbo shows. Kairos names Grizbo as a tempting Prismana pick for exactly this skill, though not a "safe" first one 0:00

Waleetle

EarthDPSBerylline Vale
B

A spinning EP-drain carry. Sandstorm Spin speeds up the longer it runs (up to double hit rate at no extra EP) and deals +20% to broken targets, while Stone Ball Drift stacks +8% damage per hit (4 stacks) and shatters Bouldus's Rock Piles for Disintegration. Without Bouldus, Game8 says its damage is "significantly limited".

Held itemFerocious Fang (GameWith agrees)
ContractYes: Sandstorm Spin drops from 10 to 8 EP per second. No new effect, but the spin lasts much longer
PersonalityESTJ (E and S for damage, J for HP)
Equip skillsSandstorm Spin + Stone Ball Drift
Potential priorityAttack ★★★★★ = Regen ★★★★★ › Break ★★★ › HP ★★ › P.Def/M.Def ★
Ultimate / traitRock Ball Blast · Overloaded Engine (moving and casting fill a gauge; when full, the next skill gets +40%)
Rotation: Bouldus casts Rock Tackle and Boulder Blast for Rock Piles → swap to Waleetle, Stone Ball Drift through the piles → Sandstorm Spin while moving to fill Overload → spend the full gauge on Rock Ball Blast. Best team: Bouldus, Minespine, Somniwing (Bailite instead of Minespine for more shred, at the cost of Break). Evolves from: Baleetle (Lv 39 + Loam Stone ×3, after the Great Rolling Racing Challenge). Learnable: Ice Ball Cutting (catch a Snowfield Baleetle or Waleetle), Darkwheel Slash (catch a Prismana Waleetle).
PrismanaPrismana Waleetle
EARTH + DARK · DPS · PRISMANA

Prismana Waleetle

EarthDarkDPSVein Abundance
B

Same build, item, contract and team as Waleetle. The differences: its exclusive Darkwheel Slash rolls forward and deals an extra 400% damage to Shields (Game8: use it on shielded targets), and the Dark typing changes its defenses.

New weaknessesEarth + Dark also takes 1.6× from Wind and Light (on top of Water and Grass)
New resistanceEarth hits it for just 0.39× (resisted twice)
WhereNorthwest of the Mudstone Pass Bloom. Its Vein Abundance (Berylline Vale) ended Oct 11; Game8 says the S1 Prismana return from Oct 19
Tip: catching one unlocks Darkwheel Slash on every Waleetle, so a regular Waleetle with good potential is still worth building. Game8 lists Prismana Waleetle at B, one step below its base form in the Earth ranking.

Earth Break builds

Both Earth breakers cast skills while Tunneling, which makes them immune to ranged attacks mid-combo. Build them for Break and Regen only: Kairos tested that Attack does nothing for shield damage 19:30

MinespineMinespine
EARTH · BREAK · NOVA

Minespine

EarthBreakAlpha in the Forgotten Mine
B

Earth's best breaker (A in Game8's Break and Earth rankings) and a generic one: its kit is pure Break damage and isn't tied to a partner. Seismic Wave pulses every second for 8s, Earth Spikes walls the target in so more pulses land, and Earth Affinity adds 20% BREAK while burrowed.

Held itemGargantuan Horn
ContractYes, highly recommended: while Seismic Wave runs, every hit Minespine takes releases an extra shock wave (1s interval)
PersonalityESFJ (E is the must for Break; S and J are bonuses)
Equip skillsSeismic Wave + Stone Shell (Earth Spikes to pin mobile targets)
Potential priorityBreak ★★★★★ › Regen ★★★★ › HP ★★★ › Attack ★★ › P.Def/M.Def ★
Ultimate / traitMeteor Shower (cast above ground) · Earth Affinity
Rotation: supports first → Tunnel → Seismic Wave next to the target and Stone Shell from range, both while burrowed → surface and Meteor Shower to finish the bar → swap to your DPS. Best team: Waleetle or Grizbo, Bailite or Bouldus, Somniwing. Evolves from: Geodeback (Lv 48 + Loam Stone ×3, after beating Alpha Minespine) ← Pebbling (Lv 38). Alpha Minespine sits under Beast Fang Ridge and needs the 120 Lumin Amber milestone.
💡
Before you have Minespine: Geodeback

Its Gamma stage has its own Game8 build and works as a stand-in breaker: Gargantuan Horn, ESFJ, Stone Shell + Earth Spikes, Break ★5 and Regen ★4. It has no ultimate yet, so the break takes longer. Pebbling's other branch, Lavazar → Magmarex, is a Fire breaker.

ShrubclawShrubclaw
EARTH + GRASS · BREAK · NOVA

Shrubclaw

EarthGrassBreakBerylline Vale
C

Game8 C, GameWith A: the widest gap on this page. Its Stealth trait stacks Momentum (doubled while Tunneling) to 6 for +30% BREAK efficiency for 20s, and Leaf Slash works underground, so you can stack it safely. Dual typing lets it break for Grass teams too. The cost is long setups and heavy EP use.

Held itemGargantuan Horn (GameWith agrees)
ContractYes: Charged Blow charges much faster and stuns for 1s. The faster charge is the real gain
PersonalityESTJ (E for Break is enough; S is a bonus) (GameWith: ISTP)
Equip skillsCharged Blow + Leaf Slash
Potential priorityBreak ★★★★★ = Regen ★★★★★ › HP ★★★ › P.Def/M.Def ★★ › Attack ★
Ultimate / traitQuake Impact (fast Break burst) · Stealth
Rotation: supports first → Tunnel and Leaf Slash to max Momentum → Charged Blow (move while charging to aim) → Quake Impact to finish → DPS. Best team: Grizbo or Prismana Grizbo, Bailite, Somniwing. Evolves from: Budclaw (Lv 21 + Loam Stone ×3). Budclaw's other branch is the Ice breaker Geoclaw. Learnable: The Luminus Gust (catch a Mudflat or Beach Budclaw or Shrubclaw): spins cores around itself and applies Earth Debuff for 5.5s.

Earth Support builds: the shred engine

Earth's supports don't buff your DPS. They lower the target's Earth Resistance, and they only matter in Earth teams. Game8 says Bailite is "only good in Earth teams" and Bouldus is "specifically made for Waleetle".

Bouldus

EarthSupportAlpha in Berylline Vale
C

Game8 C, GameWith A+. Its Rock Piles are Waleetle's fuel: when Stone Ball Drift smashes one, the target gets Disintegration, −6% Earth Resistance and −5% speed per stack, up to 6 stacks for 20s. Clay Ball applies Disintegration directly too.

Held itemSpirited Feather (Tier 2 cooldown cut helps Rock Tackle)
ContractNo: the 1s stun on Rock Tackle only matters in PvP and Pathfinder fights
PersonalityISFP (I for Regen, S because its skills do real damage) (GameWith: ISTJ)
Equip skillsRock Tackle (4 piles) + Clay Ball (Disintegration)
Potential priorityRegen ★★★★★ › Attack ★★★★ › Break ★★★ › HP ★★ › P.Def/M.Def ★
Ultimate / traitBoulder Blast (AoE + 6 Rock Piles) · Rock Empowerment
Rotation: after the break, Clay Ball → Rock Tackle → Boulder Blast if ready → Regen unit → Waleetle smashes the piles. Game8: Clay Ball before Rock Tackle sets up 5 Disintegration stacks. Evolves from: Baleetle (Lv 39 + Loam Stone ×3, after beating Alpha Bouldus and learning the Peculiar Rock Ball talent at Wayfarer II, from the Lv 45 Promotion: Core's Nurture quest). Learnable: Ice Sphere (catch a Snowfield Bouldus).

Bailite

EarthSupportZephyrus Landbridge
D

Game8 D overall (B as a Support), GameWith A+. Every skill or ultimate hit applies Potent Erosion: −2% Earth Resistance for 20s, up to 10 stacks (−20%). Cozite Nest Sentry launches a Cozite that attacks every time anyone casts a skill, stays out after you swap (15s), and keeps applying Erosion.

Held itemSpirited Feather (GameWith agrees)
ContractYes, highly recommended: each Cozite hit adds 10% of its damage as area damage
PersonalityISTJ
Equip skillsCozite Nest Sentry + Cannon Mode (skip Shielding Smoke)
Potential priorityRegen ★★★★★ = HP ★★★★★ › Attack ★★ › rest ★
Ultimate / traitDevastation Cannon (burst + damaging crater) · Potent Erosion
Rotation: Devastation Cannon to open the Erosion stacks → Cozite Nest Sentry → swap to a DPS with multi-hit or recast skills so the Cozite fires as often as possible. Best team: Grizbo, Shrubclaw, Somniwing. Evolves from: Cozite (Lv 51 + Loam Stone ×3).

Best Earth teams and rotations

Pick the team by DPS. Every Earth core is EP-hungry, so both Game8 teams run Somniwing; GameWith swaps in Besauce.

Game8's Earth team

Grizbo · Minespine · Bailite · Somniwing

Minespine breaks, Bailite stacks up to −20% Earth Resistance, Grizbo cashes Claw Marks inside the break. Shrubclaw replaces Minespine if you want more Earth Debuff from The Luminus Gust.

Waleetle core

Waleetle · Bouldus · Minespine · Somniwing

Bouldus is mandatory. Prismana Waleetle slots in 1:1. Geodeback or Shrubclaw cover the Break slot before you unlock Minespine.

Grizbo rotation (one break window)

  1. Bailite: Devastation Cannon, then Cozite Nest Sentry, because the Cozite follows you and procs Erosion on every skill you cast next.
  2. Somniwing: Ethereal Light Wave (+24% EP recovery for 20s) so the breaker and Grizbo have EP for the window.
  3. Minespine: Tunnel, Seismic Wave + Stone Shell, then surface for Meteor Shower once the bar is nearly empty.
  4. Grizbo: Rock Smash to skip the Rage build-up, Fanatic Clawing to 6 Claw Marks, then Critical Hit.
  5. Refresh supports as their 15 to 20s timers run out, then repeat.

Advanced Earth tips

Stack the Earth Resistance shred

Bailite: Potent Erosion (10 × 2%)−20%
Bouldus: Disintegration (6 × 6%)−36%
Earth Debuff stacks (20 × 1%)−20%

These are three separate effects with their own caps. Game8 doesn't state how they combine, so treat the totals as upper limits per effect, not a guaranteed sum. The generic Earth Debuff (1% per stack, max 20) comes from hits such as Shrubclaw's The Luminus Gust.

Traits to play around

Mistakes to avoid

⚠️
Bringing Earth to a Water or Grass fight

You deal 0.625× and take 1.6×. Earth is a Fire and Ice answer only. Kairos's rule for every element: build a breaker and a DPS that hit the shield's weakness 3:03

⚠️
Waleetle without Bouldus, Bailite outside Earth

Both are partner-locked. A Waleetle without Rock Piles loses its Disintegration, and Bailite's only debuff is Earth-specific.

⚠️
Only one Baleetle

Baleetle evolves into either Waleetle or Bouldus. You need two to run the pair, so catch a spare in Berylline Vale.

What to invest in first

  1. Grizbo or Waleetle, plus its partner support, because neither DPS works alone. Grizbo needs less setup (Rock Smash skips its build-up).
  2. Minespine with a contract. It's the one Earth unit useful outside Earth teams, and Game8 rates its contract "highly recommended". Catch the Alpha: Kairos notes Alphas come with the core skill pre-enhanced, worth 10 Marks of the Strong 5:50
  3. Contracts after that: Bailite (Cozite splash) and Grizbo (Claw Marks kept). Skip Bouldus's.
  4. Spare Earth units go to Homeland mines. Kairos: a level-3 Earth worker with Playful reaches 120%, and a Prismana Grizbo goes higher 2:47
