Wind owns the two most-used supports in the game, Turbo and Somniwing, plus a full Chirpi-family team that buffs itself. Here is the best build for every Wind Aniimo, how to get the most from the universal pair, and the Wind team rotation.
Wind at a glance
Wind's damage is narrow, but its supports are everywhere. Turbo and Somniwing are both S in Game8 and show up in more top teams than any other pair, whatever the element. Build those two first, then decide whether you want a full Wind team.
Grass Dark
Lightning Wind
Lightning Light. It resists Wind and Dark.
Wind into Dark is one of Game8's three hard counters: 1.6× out, 0.625× back. Since Dark has the widest offensive coverage in the game, a Wind team is a natural answer to it. Avoid Lightning, which resists Wind and hits it for 1.6×.
Every Wind Aniimo, ranked
All released final forms whose primary element is Wind, ranked by Game8's overall tier (Oct 6), with GameWith (Oct 14). Regional and Prismana forms are in their own section below.
Game8 | Aniimo | Type | Role | GameWith | Note
S | Turbo | Wind | Support | SS | Universal damage and break buff
S | Somniwing | Wind / Grass | Regen | not listed | Legendary; Game8's default Regen
A | Cornet | Wind | DPS | S+ | The Wind carry
A | Tubster | Wind | Break | S+ | Self-sufficient breaker for any team
A | Tromber | Wind | Support | S+ | Wind damage and crit damage
A | Eklue | Wind | Support | S | Game8's "best Wind support"
A | Helgon | Wind | Break | S | Counter-based breaker
A | Gracewing | Wind | Heal | S | Heals plus EP pickups
B | Chirpi | Wind | Support | n/a | A Lumin, but a real team slot
Turbo and Somniwing are near the top of every current list. GameWith rates the whole Chirpi family one step higher than Game8 (S+ vs A). Somniwing has no GameWith rating in our data, and GameWith's "Prismana Somniwing" can't be verified: Game8 says Somniwing has no alternate forms.
The universal pair: Turbo and Somniwing
These two belong on almost every team you'll build. Turbo multiplies damage and break for any element, and Somniwing keeps the EP flowing so your DPS can actually use it.
Turbo
Nimbi Burst gives the whole team +15% damage and +15% break efficiency for 20s. Cast it in the Shrouded in Mist state and it becomes +30% for all nearby allies. Most support buffs only help one element, so Game8 calls this one "extremely competitive". Cloud Shield adds a shield that scales with Turbo's max HP.
Somniwing
Its trait Energy Full adds +10 max EP to the whole party just for being on the team, even off-field. Ethereal Light Wave raises EP recovery by 24% for 20s for teammates in its path and eats enemy projectiles. The ultimate Butterfly Dance restores 36 EP. It only needs a few seconds on the field per rotation.
Getting the most from the pair
Turbo: pop it on "ready"
Shrouded in Mist needs 4 stacks. Turbo gets one per basic attack, and one per 5s off the field, so a full charge takes 20s on the bench. Kairos: the counters keep charging off-field, so cast as soon as the icon flips from 3 to ready 5:41. Any skill resets the stacks, so don't waste a Shrouded charge on Cloud Shield.
Somniwing: the break-window battery
Kairos's routine: get the shield nearly down, swap to Somniwing to fill EP, break, ult and spam with your DPS, then cast Butterfly Dance, whose animation pauses time, and ult again 1:40. Swap it out after: Kairos notes its EP buff scales with its Regen even from the bench 21:11, while other benched units' Regen does nothing for EP 13:45.
Somniwing: zero Attack, max Regen. Its Attack is derived from Regen, so Regen is also its damage stat 11:40. Turbo: read the kit. Its shield scales off max HP, so HP is the stat 21:52. Neither needs Attack for its job.
Game8's skill text says Ethereal Light Wave gives +24% EP recovery, but the same page's analysis says 30%, and Kairos describes Somniwing's party EP buff as scaling with its Regen, up to 36% 21:11. Butterfly Dance is a flat 36 EP on Game8. Either way, more Regen never hurts. Game8's team lists also equip Hypnotic Spores instead of Energy Orb.
Wind DPS and Break: Cornet, Tubster and Helgon
Cornet is the only dedicated Wind DPS. It has two breakers to choose from: Tubster, who completes the Chirpi family bonuses, and Helgon, who rewards good counter timing.
Cornet
A flying gunner. Scream Splitter gives +30% damage for 15s when several of its projectiles hit one target, and holding the button sends Cornet airborne, where its trait Air Superiority adds +20% crit. From the air, Wind Bomb Rush fires a barrage of up to 15 AoE hits. It's expensive (45 EP), which is why the team around it matters.
Tubster
Its trait Victory Concerto gives +40% break efficiency while shielded, and Gale Guard is the shield: 20% damage reduction in stance, then 10% max HP as a shield, up to double that if it's hit during the stance. Breaking an enemy plays Concerto, cutting team stamina cost by 30%. Game8 says only Rookey and Inferlupa out-break it, and its kit needs no teammates.
Helgon
A parry breaker. Wind Counter enters a 30% damage reduction stance and hits back when struck. Time it as the enemy attacks and it also gives +20% break efficiency for 10s and a 1.5s stun. Its trait Counter Strike adds +25% break efficiency for 10s whenever Helgon itself is hit. Overcharged Claw Strike is the fast 20 EP filler.
Tubster on the Chirpi team, because its trait boosts all three movement buffs by 30%. Helgon on a Cornet + Tromber + Eklue team, or as a Wind breaker for other elements. GameWith's advice: run Tubster instead if you can't time Helgon's counter.
Wind supports and healer: Tromber, Eklue, Gracewing and Chirpi
Tromber
Waltz is a movement buff: +28% crit damage for 20s. With three movement buffs active, all of them get +30%. Spiral Blade lowers Wind resistance by 3% per stack (up to 5) for 20s, and the ultimate Zephyr's Breath gives the party +25% Wind damage for 30s. Its trait Band Member restores 20 EP to the next Chirpi-family member you swap in (once per 20s).
Eklue
Three Wind layers in one kit. Detect Weakness marks targets (hold the weak point centered for 0.8s) for −12% crit resistance over 20s. Its trait Judgment Storm gives the team +16% Wind damage for 20s whenever it applies a debuff, and the ultimate Target Weakness marks everything in view and cuts Wind resistance by 20% for 30s. Game8 calls it the best Wind support in the game.
Gracewing
A healer that also feeds EP. Wind of Rejuvenation heals the team for 9% of Gracewing's max HP over 8s (+3% for Wind units), and Phantomfly leaves up to two pickups that restore 20 EP to whoever touches them after 3s. Off-field, its trait Flutter Heal heals the active unit 0.5% max HP every time a teammate casts.
Chirpi: the Lumin that stays on the team
Chirpi Game8 has no build page for Chirpi, but its Wind team uses it as the fourth slot. It brings March (healing over time and the only clean way to refresh all three movement buffs) and the same Band Member EP trait as Tromber. Once Tromber is contracted, March comes from Waltz and Chirpi can go. Chirpi evolves into Cornet, Tromber or Tubster at Lv 18, so catch several.
Regional and Prismana Wind forms
Game8 ranks these forms, but none has its own build page. Use the base species' build, check the form's element in-game, and value each one for the skill it unlocks for the species.
Game8 | Form | Unlocks | Why it matters
S | Prismana Turbo | Nebula Burst | Team Dark damage +15% for 20s: a Dark-team version of Nimbi Burst. It was a Nimbus Fields event Prismana
A | Rainstorm Turbo | Thunder Bolt | When Shrouded, projectiles explode for 120% Might and Paralyze for 5s. GameWith uses Rainstorm Turbo in its Fire, Grass and Light teams
A | Plateau Turbo | n/a | Ranked A; our sources don't list a unique skill
A | Prismana Cornet | Lightning Splitter | Electric projectiles; several hits on one target Paralyze for 5s. Game8 also lists a Prismana Cornet Chirpi team
A | Beach Cornet, Tromber, Tubster | Water Tornado | A pulling vortex; each hit drains 4 EP from the target
n/a | Highland Chirpi family | Leaf Tornado | A pulling vortex that absorbs nearby puddles for +100% damage
A | Mountain Helgon | n/a | Ranked A; our sources don't list a unique skill
A | Mountain Woods Gracewing | Wind of Regeneration | A 12% max HP shield on allies in the area for 20s
A | Nighttime Gracewing | Phantom Dance | Cleanses Gracewing, and off-field it cleanses the active teammate automatically
A | Sea of Flowers Gracewing | Healing Dance | Our source text is cut off, so check the effect in-game
Rainstorm Turbo and the Beach and Highland forms depend on location and weather. Check the forecast daily (Kairos misses forms by skipping it). Register any copy, then Morph Orb a Perfect normal one into that form.
The best Wind teams and rotations
Team 1: the Chirpi family (Game8)
The point of this team is to hold all three movement buffs (March, Waltz and Tubster's Concerto) so each gets +30%, while Band Member hands out 20 EP on swaps.
- Enter with a full ultimate bar, on Chirpi. Cast March right away.
- Tromber: Waltz, Spiral Blade, then Zephyr's Breath for +25% Wind damage.
- Tubster: Gale Guard, holding it if the enemy is about to hit (more shield), then Resting Whirlwind and basic attacks.
- Buffs about to expire? Chirpi: March to refresh all three.
- On break, Cornet: hold Scream Splitter to fly, then Wind Bomb Rush. Ult if the window is closing.
Team 2: contracted Tromber + Eklue
Once Tromber is contracted (Waltz grants March) and Cornet is contracted (cheaper Wind Bomb Rush), Game8 swaps Chirpi for Eklue: you lose Chirpi's healing and EP, and gain +16% Wind damage, −20% Wind resistance and a crit-resistance cut. GameWith's version runs Cornet, Tromber, Eklue and Helgon, with Tubster if you can't time Helgon's counter.
Wind units on other teams
Team | Wind piece | Source
Light: Lunara or Helion, Rookey, Prismana Glacy, Somniwing | Somniwing; Turbo replaces Glacy, Gracewing replaces Somniwing | Game8's #1 team
Grass: Irisalis, Leafy, Turbo, Somniwing | Turbo and Somniwing | Game8's #4 team
Ice, Fire, Earth, Grass melee | Somniwing as the Regen | Game8 element teams
Fire, Grass, Light | Rainstorm Turbo | GameWith
Cornet + Tromber + Somniwing + Helgon | All Wind, Somniwing for EP | Game8's Helgon page
Budget and F2P swaps
- No Somniwing yet? Gracewing covers healing and some EP, and the Chirpi family barely needs a battery thanks to Band Member.
- No Tromber? It needs HP Potential 6+ on a Chirpi plus the Magical Horn talent. Run Cornet, Tubster, Chirpi and Turbo meanwhile.
- The whole Chirpi family is free: Chirpi is common across Breezy Plains, and every member comes from it. Catch many and check their Potential in the Outpost.
- Turbo is free for everyone from the tutorial, so there's no reason not to build it.
Advanced Wind tips
Stacking Wind resistance down
3% per stack, up to 5 stacks, for 20s. Recasting refreshes it.
Wind resistance for 30s, plus a Weakness Mark on every target in view.
Zephyr's Breath (+25%) and Judgment Storm (+16%) on the same team.
Casting Nimbi Burst without Shrouded in Mist halves the buff. Casting any Turbo skill first resets the stacks, so Nimbi Burst goes first. Using Butterfly Dance above half EP wastes most of it. Leaving Somniwing on the field: its trait works from the bench, so cast and swap back to your DPS. Using Tubster's ultimate: Game8 says don't. Expecting Helgon's trait to trigger when a teammate is hit: only Helgon's own hits count.
Eklue's ult text says −20% Wind resistance, while Game8's tips say "up to 35%" (possibly counting Spiral Blade). Helgon's Wind Counter text says 30% damage reduction, the rotation tips say 20%. Eklue's and Helgon's Game8 tips contain copy-paste lines from other units ("Spotlight Moment", "buff up Tubster's damage"). Held items differ between Game8 and GameWith for every Wind unit except Tubster and Somniwing; this guide follows Game8's per-unit picks.
What to invest in first
- Turbo: level it and put Potential into HP. It goes on almost every team for free.
- Somniwing: Regen only, Spirited Feather. Start Elite Training objectives early; 180 takes a while.
- Tubster: Break and a Gargantuan Horn. It breaks for any element, not just Wind.
- Cornet and Tromber, then their contracts, which unlock the Eklue version of the team.
Turbo and Prismana Glacy are universal, but when a support matches your DPS's element, it's better 5:41. For Cornet that means Tromber and Eklue first, Turbo second. For more layers, see the damage multipliers guide.
