An all-in-one reference for Aniimo, Pawprint Interactive's free-to-play creature-catching open-world RPG. It covers catching, Twine, combat roles and elements, progression, Homeland, currencies, endgame modes, and how to spend (or not spend) money.
Researched September 2026 — current as of Update 1.1 (September 23, 2026, the mobile launch) and the Chapter 2 Legendary Journey stage. Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Quick Start
- Claim your launch rewards from the in-game mailbox before anything else.
- Invest in your starter, Helion or Lunara. Both stay useful into endgame modes, so materials spent on them aren't wasted.
- Push the Main Story and Elite Training. Your level cap is tied to Student Rank. Follow the story until it asks for a rank-up, then clear the Elite Training objectives from Dr. Lewis.
- Catch everything. Every catch gives player XP and party XP. Unwanted catches turn into upgrade materials, and first-time species captures give bonus progress.
- Backstab before throwing. Hitting an Aniimo from behind boosts capture rate a lot (Game8 cites +150%) and often skips the fight entirely.
- Build a mixed team. Cover several of the nine elements and several roles (DPS, Break, Heal, Regen, Support). Always have a Break unit.
- Unlock Homeland early. Farming, mining, and egg hatching run in real time, so the sooner they start the better.
- Spend Primegy every day. It caps at 300 (the Monthly Pass raises the cap) and regenerates slowly, about 1 point every 6 minutes. Anything above the cap is wasted.
- There's no gacha. Aniimo are caught, hatched, or earned. Monetisation is passes, cosmetics, and convenience.

Price | Free-to-play
Multiplayer | Up to 4-player co-op, cross-platform

Core Systems
Catching
- Aniipods are your capture tools. The tiers include Pro, Hyper, Mega, Ultra, and Track pods. An Ultra Aniipod guarantees the catch with at least Elite potential.
- Sparkling Cube: An extremely rare pod that guarantees Perfect potential and Sparkling (shiny) status. Save it for a species you really want.
- How to catch well:
- Sneak up and backstab for the big capture-rate bonus.
- If a fight starts, fill the enemy's Break gauge first. Broken targets are much easier to catch.
- Use the Tumbler for group catches.
- Alphas are boss-type wild Aniimo. Catching or fighting them costs Primegy, so only take on Alphas that are unique or drop materials you need.
Rarity and potential
Tier | Keep?
Common | Feed to upgrades
Good | Feed to upgrades
Elite | Keep if the species is useful
Perfect | Keep. The best tier
- Innate Potential (IP) is fixed when you catch the Aniimo. Capability Fruits (scarce) can raise it.
- Acquired Potential (AP) goes up with enhancement materials.
- Special Aniipods can guarantee Elite/Perfect results. That's usually a better use of rare items than rolling random catches.
Twine
Twine is the signature mechanic. You transform into any Aniimo you've caught and use its abilities for combat, movement, and puzzles.
- Movement abilities vary by species: running faster, digging, gliding, jumping high. Skills such as Hustle, Tunnel, and Pound get you across the map and past obstacles.
- Keep a traversal team (fast runner, digger, glider) besides your battle team.
Combat: Command Mode and Twine Mode
Battles can be fought in Command Mode (issuing orders to your team) or Twine Mode (fighting directly as your Aniimo).
Roles
Role | Job
DPS | Main damage
Break | Fills enemy Break gauges. Essential: fights drag on without one, and Break also helps capture
Heal | Restores HP
Regen | Energy/sustain over time. Stops your team running dry
Support | Buffs and utility
Rule of thumb: At least three roles per team, and always a Break unit. A common shape is DPS + Break + Heal/Regen, with a fourth slot for Support or a second element.
Elements: There are nine (including Fire, Ice, Dark, Grass, Water and Wind, plus light, lightning and earth-type elements; fan sites translate the names differently, so go by the in-game icons). Hitting weaknesses and avoiding resisted matchups speeds up fights a lot. Mix elements so you're never stuck against a resistant boss.
Talents: Your Pathfinder's talents can be used in Command Mode to heal, buff, or attack. Use them. They're free value in hard fights.
Party presets: Save several teams built around different elements and swap between them quickly (H on PC, Triangle/Y + L1 on console).
Evolution and Prismana
- Evolution uses scarce materials. Only evolve Aniimo you actually use.
- Prismana forms are rare variants that change type and only spawn in certain weather. Weather changes in real time, and you can't normally change it yourself outside of triggering Prismana. Missing a spawn window can mean waiting hours or days.
- Nurturing Blooms (through the Breezy Plains Branch) give three free attempts a day to trigger Wild Surges and Prismana Flow. Use them every day.
- Lumen Amber (some guides write "Lumin Amber") comes from quests, exploration, mini-games, and Sanctums. It unlocks unlimited exploration stamina and helps spawn Prismana Aniimo.
Progression: How to Level Fast
Main ways to earn XP:
Source | Notes
Main Story + Elite Training (Dr. Lewis) | Raises your level cap. The top priority
Training Program | Structured XP objectives
First-time captures | Big bonus. Catch every new species you see
Sanctums | Co-op puzzle sites. They also give Lumen Amber
Holo-Battle Sim | Battle challenges
Alpha bosses | Costs Primegy. Pick targets carefully
Experience Gems | Direct Aniimo XP
Star-Up / Resonance strengthens favourite Aniimo using Dewdrop Crystals. Held items add more power. Put these into your main team, not your whole box.
Homeland
Homeland is the housing and production system. Your RV is the progression hub.
- When it unlocks: Around level 20, through early story progression. Push the story to reach it.
- Workers: Assign caught Aniimo to jobs. Each has an efficiency level per job, so give jobs to the species that are good at them.
- Keep food stocked. Unfed workers get angry and stop working.
- Base vs party: An Aniimo working at home can't be in your battle roster at the same time. Catch a second copy of any species you want in both.
- Farming and orders: Plant crops, sell goods, and fill orders. At higher levels this gives rare upgrade and evolution materials.
- Eggs: Build several incubators to hatch Aniimo passively. The Monthly Pass speeds up hatching.
- Collect regularly. Production runs in real time, so a quick check-in after each session keeps it going.
Currencies and Resources
Resource | Use | Tip
Primegy | Energy for Alphas and other activities. Cap 300 (higher with Monthly Pass), regenerates about 1 point per 6 minutes | Never sit at the cap
Dewdrop Crystals | Star-Up / Resonance | Main team only
Lumen Amber | Exploration stamina, Prismana spawns | Clear Sanctums
Runes | Rewards from Hollow Sun, a roguelike gauntlet | Endgame build power
Capability Fruits | Raise Innate Potential | Very scarce. Use only on long-term keepers
Aniipods | Capture | Save Ultra/Sparkling Cube for targets you want
Vendors: Buy the limited-stock items from shops like Joff's before they reset each day or week.
Endgame Loop
Once the story opens up, the long-term loop looks like this:
- Dailies/weeklies: Spend Primegy, do Nurturing Blooms, clear events, collect Homeland.
- Legendary Journey: Legendary Aniimo are unlocked in stages. Update 1.1 added the Irisalis stage. You craft her Legendary Aniipod from 99 Irisalis Petals, earned in the Energy Rift once Chapter 2 opens (September 25, 2026).
- Egg Heist: A team mode with its own gear and talents. Update 1.1 added Egg Heist Chaos difficulty, and a Limited-Time Challenge rewards three gold chests at 120 kills.
- Hollow Sun: A roguelike gauntlet for Runes.
- World Bosses and Holo-Battle Sim challenges.
- Prismana and Sparkling hunting: Weather-dependent spawns and very rare shinies, for collectors.
- 4-player co-op: Sanctums and group content.
Events at 1.1: Four events launched with the update, including Dazmand's Aniimo Discovery. Events give exclusive Aniimo and rare upgrade materials, so check in daily while they're running.
Monetisation and F2P Advice
- No gacha. You never pay for random creature pulls.
- Monthly Pass: Premium currency, Battle Pass progress boost, faster egg hatching, and a higher Primegy cap (check the store page for current numbers). The best value purchase if you're spending anything.
- Companion Pass (battle pass): Useful items, including an exclusive Aniimo.
- Shop: Sparkling Cubes, cosmetics, and convenience items.
- Free players: Do all dailies and events, never waste Primegy, get Homeland running early, and save rare pods. You'll progress just fine. Spending mostly speeds things up.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Ignoring the level cap. Exploring for rare spawns before Elite Training leaves you under-leveled.
- Leveling everything. Spread materials over 20 Aniimo and none of them is strong. Focus on one team.
- No Break unit. Fights drag and captures get harder.
- Evolving early. Evolution materials are scarce. Only evolve Aniimo you use.
- Letting Primegy cap out. Wasted regeneration.
- Hungry Homeland workers. They stop working.
- Assigning your best fighter to a job and then wondering why it's missing from your team.
- Using a Sparkling Cube on a random catch.
- Fighting every Alpha. Only fight the ones with unique catches or drops you need.
Advanced Tips
- Save element presets (H / Triangle+L1) for specific bosses so you can swap in seconds.
- Learn the weather. Note which Prismana forms spawn in which weather, and use Nurturing Blooms when that weather comes round.
- Second copies for Homeland. Catch an efficient worker copy of each key species so your battle team stays together.
- Use Command Mode talents at the right moment: heal before a big hit, buff before a Break window.
- Plan Irisalis early: Earn Irisalis Petals in the Energy Rift steadily rather than cramming near the end of the stage.
- Egg Heist gear and talents are separate from overworld builds, so read the mode's loadout screen before queueing Chaos difficulty.
- Capability Fruits go on Perfect-potential Aniimo you'll keep through endgame, like your starter.
