Ice has only two native lines, but it hard-counters both Water and Lightning. Here is the best build for Glynsera, Geoclaw and every Ice-typed form, plus the team, rotation and debuff-stack tricks that make them work.
Ice at a glance
Ice is a small element with one big selling point: it hard-counters Water and Lightning. It hits both for 1.6× and takes only 0.625× back from both, so an Ice team is the safest answer to Water and Lightning shields.
Water Lightning
Fire Ice Earth
Fire Earth. It resists Water, Ice and Lightning.
Grass, Wind, Dark and Light take neutral damage from Ice. The weak spot is Fire and Earth: they resist your hits and hit you for 1.6×, so swap teams against them instead of forcing it.
Every Ice Aniimo, ranked
Only two released lines are primary Ice: Glynsera (Bonesky line) and Geoclaw. The table adds the Ice-typed forms and the two Aniimo that complete Game8's Ice team. Ranked by Game8's overall tier (Oct 6), with GameWith (Oct 14) where it has one.
Game8 | Aniimo | Type | Role | GameWith | Note
S | Prismana Glacy | Water / Light | Heal | SS | Ice team support, not Ice-typed
S | Somniwing | Wind / Grass | Regen | n/a | Ice team Regen
A | Prismana Stellarys | Dark / Ice | DPS | n/a | Plays as a Dark DPS
B | Glynsera | Ice | DPS | S | A in Game8's Ice ranking
B | Prismana Glynsera | Light / Ice | DPS | n/a | Same build as Glynsera
B | Nighttime Glynsera | Dark / Ice | DPS | n/a | Same build as Glynsera
B | Geoclaw | Ice | Break | S | A in Game8's Break and Ice rankings
B | Glacy | Water / Ice | Heal | S | Learns Glimmer Shot once you own a Prismana Glacy
Game8 puts Glynsera and Geoclaw at B overall, while GameWith rates both S and calls the Ice team its safest comp. Game8's own Ice ranking has both at A. Read it this way: the Ice pair is not a top-tier carry, but it is reliable and cheap to build.
Cheekie, Wavwal, Malangel and Malevsera show up as Ice in closed-beta data for Whisperwake Isle (reported for Oct 29). They are not in the game in Update 1.1, so this guide skips them.
Ice DPS: Glynsera and its forms
Every Glynsera form shares the same stats, trait, skills and build. Pick the one you have. The forms differ in their second element and in the one skill they unlock for the species.
Glynsera
A stack-and-cash-in melee DPS. Ice Strikes lays 5 Ice Debuff stacks at once, its trait Biting Wind adds +15% crit rate against targets above 5 stacks, and Frost Tail Strike spends stacks for +85% damage. Keep the stack count high and every hit crits more often.
Nighttime Glynsera
Identical build to Glynsera. What changes: the Dark half adds weaknesses to Wind and Light (Earth becomes neutral, Fire stays), and catching one unlocks Night Slash (Silence for 4s) for the species.
Prismana Glynsera
Same build again. Catching it unlocks Prismana Slash for every Glynsera, whose text matches Ice Strikes minus the 5 debuff stacks, so keep Ice Strikes equipped. Game8 says don't put it on a Light team: its damage engine is Ice Debuff stacks, and only Ice teammates feed those.
Prismana Stellarys
The highest-ranked Ice-typed unit, but it plays as a Dark DPS: Dark basic attacks, Shooting Stars and Shadow Magic. Build it like Stellarys and run it on the Dark team (Rookey, Fragrancier, Hexxin). Its Ice skill, Chill Glide, applies 1 Ice Debuff stack per hit, but Game8 says it adds nothing to the team.
Ice Break: Geoclaw
Geoclaw is the only Ice breaker, and it doubles as your main Ice Debuff stacker. Without it, Glynsera's trait and Frost Tail Strike are hard to keep running.
Geoclaw
Its trait Frostbite Sunder makes basic attacks apply Ice Debuff and adds 35% BREAK against targets above 5 stacks. Icy Gravel Dance sends a moving ice storm that keeps stacking, and Frost Slam hits hard on the gauge and raises an ice wall for 5s that can pin the target.
Kairos tested a breaker with +12 Attack: shield damage barely moved, while Break did 19:30. Crit does raise break damage 20:34. Only put spare points in Attack if you want Geoclaw's skills to chip HP too.
Support, Heal and Regen for Ice
There's no native Ice support, so the Ice team borrows two of the best universal units in the game. Build them once and they slot into almost every other team as well.
Prismana Glacy
Glimmer Shot gives the whole team +15% damage for 20s, and Healing Water plus Spring of Life keep everyone alive. Both heals scale off HP, so it's a pure HP build. Kairos calls it "one of the freest damage boosts in the game" and the safe first Prismana 2:30.
Somniwing
+10 max EP for the whole party just by being on the team, a +24% EP recovery wave, and an ultimate that refills 36 EP. Glynsera and Geoclaw both burn EP to keep stacks up, so this matters more for Ice than for most teams. Full build in the Wind builds guide.
Glacy and Snowfield Glacy
Regular Glacy is the actual Water / Ice healer (B in Game8, S in GameWith). It uses the same build as the Prismana (Miraculous Fleece, ISTJ, HP first) and can learn Glimmer Shot for free once you own any Prismana Glacy. It loses the 10% same-type bonus on that skill, which Kairos says barely matters on a healer 22:30. Catching a Snowfield Skippy, Pranky or Glacy unlocks Ice Orb (freezes the target for 2.5s).
Swaps if you're missing a piece
Eklue is a Wind support, but its Weakness Mark cuts the target's crit resistance by 12%, which Game8 calls a good fit for Glynsera's crit trait.
Snowfield forms: Ice skills for other species
Snowfield regional forms don't have their own build pages. Their value is the skill they unlock: catch one and the skill becomes learnable on every member of that species. Check each form's element in-game, since our sources don't list it.
Catch | Unlocks | Effect
Snowfield Skippy, Pranky, Glacy | Ice Orb | Aimed orb that Freezes the target for 2.5s
Snowfield Pomegg, Pomawk | Frost Strike | Hits everything around the user and Freezes them for 2.5s
Snowfield Helmut, Rookey | Guardbreak Smash | Up to three jumping smashes; the third stuns for 1s
Snowfield Baleetle, Waleetle | Ice Ball Cutting | Rolls a big ice ball forward for heavy damage
Snowfield Bouldus | Ice Sphere | Ball form for 15s; wall bounces deal 15 Might AoE, jump landings 20 Might
Snowfield Pawney | Weakening Smash | Three jumping smashes; the third stuns for 1s
Ice Orb and Frost Strike give non-Ice teams a 2.5s Freeze. That's strongest in PvP and against mobile targets. None of our sources confirm whether Freeze works on bosses, so test it before you build around it.
The best Ice teams and rotations
Both Game8 and GameWith run the same core: Glynsera, Geoclaw and Prismana Glacy. They disagree only on the battery.
Glynsera (any form)
Ice Strikes + Frost Tail Strike, Heartseeker Pendant.
Geoclaw
Icy Gravel Dance + Frost Slam. Stacks Ice Debuff while breaking.
Prismana Glacy
Glimmer Shot + Healing Water: +15% damage and sustain.
Somniwing (Game8) or Besauce (GameWith)
Game8's team list equips Hypnotic Spores + Ethereal Light Wave; its Somniwing build page says Energy Orb + Ethereal Light Wave.
Break-window rotation
- Glynsera: Ice Strikes to put 5 Ice Debuff stacks on the target, which switches on Geoclaw's extra BREAK and Glynsera's crit trait.
- Geoclaw: Icy Gravel Dance, Frost Slam, then basic attacks until the shield is nearly gone. The storm and the swings keep adding stacks.
- Somniwing: refill EP before you pop the shield. Kairos's rule: never open a break window with an empty bar 1:40.
- Break it, then Prismana Glacy: Glimmer Shot so the +15% lands inside the window.
- Glynsera: Ice Tornado first, then Frost Tail Strike. The ult hits harder while stacks are high, and Frost Tail Strike spends them.
- Somniwing's ultimate if the window is still open; its animation pauses time, then go back to Glynsera.
Budget and F2P versions
Missing | Use instead | What you lose
Geoclaw (needs a Tenacious Budclaw and Alpha Geoclaw) | Rookey | Ice Debuff stacking. Rookey is Dark, so its breaks don't get the Ice advantage on Water or Lightning shields
Somniwing (180 Elite Training objectives) | Gracewing (Phantomfly drops EP pickups) or Besauce | Some EP. Gracewing adds healing; Besauce needs Pathfinder duel fragments
Prismana Glacy | Turbo (free Alpha in the tutorial) or regular Glacy | Nothing big: Turbo's buff is +15%, or +30% with Shrouded in Mist
A Glynsera with good potential | Farm Bonesky with Ice Shards at the Beast Fang Ridge Bloom | Time. Kairos uses Tumblers on the big, high-level Fenrier in Nurture spawns 7:24
How Ice counters Water and Lightning
This is the reason to build Ice at all. Against Water and Lightning you deal 1.6× and take 0.625×, a damage-trade swing of about 2.5× in your favor before any other buff.
Double weakness targets
Thunderstorm Sherro is Lightning / Water, so Ice hits it for 1.6 × 1.6 = 2.56×. Game8 flags its Ice weakness on its own page. Any other Lightning + Water target works the same way.
Watch the second element
Glacy is Water / Ice, so the Ice half cancels your advantage (1.6 × 0.625 = 1×). Light / Lightning Prismana like Prismana Fenmane and Prismana Luminelle still take 1.6× because Ice is neutral on Light.
- Water bosses and sims: break with Geoclaw, since break damage gets the element bonus too. Kairos measured an advantaged breaker nearly emptying a shield in the casts that took a neutral one halfway 3:03.
- Lightning bosses: Lightning resists Wind, Lightning and Light, so many teams struggle here. Ice and Dark are the only two elements that hit it for 1.6×.
- Rain and standing water put Water debuff stacks on your units. That only matters to Water attackers, and Water already does 0.625× to Ice.
- Keep a Fire or Earth answer ready. Both hit Ice for 1.6× and resist it. Kairos's long-term goal is one DPS per element for the rotating Holo-Battle modes 3:59.
Advanced Ice tips
Managing Ice Debuff stacks
Ice Debuff works like every elemental debuff: each stack lowers the target's Ice resistance by 1%, up to 20 stacks (−20%). Ice skills consume stacks, so the team is a balance between building and spending.
Glynsera's crit bonus and Geoclaw's extra BREAK both need the target above 5 stacks.
Stacks consumed for the +85% hit, uncontracted vs contracted.
Stacks in one cast. The fastest way back above the threshold.
Spamming Frost Tail Strike: an uncontracted cast eats 10 stacks and can drop the target under 5, switching off both traits. Ulting after Frost Tail Strike: Ice Tornado loses value once stacks are spent. Equipping Night Slash or Chill Glide for PvE: one is Dark utility, the other adds nothing per Game8. Putting Prismana Glynsera on a Light team: nothing there feeds its stacks.
Game8's trait text says "more than 5 stacks", while its rotation tips say "at least 5". Keep 6 or more to be safe. Game8's Glynsera page also mentions both "E and S" and "E and N" in one paragraph; its listed personality (ENTP) is E + N. Game8's Glynsera rotation credits Gracewing with a "Purifying Dance" skill that isn't on Gracewing's own page (its EP skill there is Phantomfly). And Glacy's page names its ultimate both Spring of Life and Lotus Bloom (Leafy's ultimate); Spring of Life is the build-section name.
What to invest in first
- Prismana Glacy, because it carries every team you'll ever build, not just Ice. Level it, then HP.
- Glynsera's Attack and Regen plus a top-rarity Heartseeker Pendant. Don't max lower-rarity items: feeding them into a better one loses 20% 21:25.
- Geoclaw's Break with a Gargantuan Horn. Leave Attack alone.
- The Frost Tail Strike contract when you have the Marks of the Strong. It makes the stack economy far easier. Geoclaw's contract comes last.
Weather forms spawn once per storm and don't respawn 9:16. The cheap way to a Perfect one is to catch any copy to register it, farm a Perfect normal copy, then use one Morph Orb 10:02. Night-only spawns like Nighttime Bonesky need a manual time change 4:50.
