A practical guide to Armored Warfare in 2026: the vehicle classes and how each wins games, the PvE and PvP modes, currencies and what to spend them on, the current Into the West Battle Path, and the habits that separate good commanders from free kills.
Researched September 2026 — current as of Update 0.566 (26 September 2026) and the Into the West Battle Path. Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Publisher note: Armored Warfare accounts moved from MY.GAMES to Wishlist Games on 31 August 2024. The game is actively maintained — weekly offers, events, a Battle Path campaign and regular updates continue in 2026.
Quick Start
- Start in PvE. Five-player co-op against bots teaches maps, spotting and penetration without being farmed by veterans. Many players stay in PvE for most of their career.
- Pick a class that fits you and grind one line to Tier 10 instead of spreading out. Main Battle Tanks are the most forgiving.
- Aim at weak spots. Lower front plates, turret rings, sides and rears. A hit that fails to penetrate does nothing.
- Do not drive in the open without cover. Spotting decides fights: the side that sees first shoots first.
- Upgrade the gun and ammunition first on a new vehicle.
- Credits are your main economy. Keep enough for repairs and ammo before buying the next vehicle.
- Premium vehicles earn more. They do not need grinding and are good credit makers, but they are optional.
- Battle Coins expire. Each Battle Path has its own coins; spend them before the path ends (Force Recon's did not carry over after 24 September 2026).
- Play the Battle Path missions. Even the free track (Path of the Pilgrim, first 15 levels) offers useful rewards.
- Join a platoon with friends — coordinated teams win far more PvE missions.
Vehicle Classes
Class | Role | Strengths | Weaknesses
Main Battle Tank (MBT) | Frontline brawler | Armor, strong guns, versatile | Big target; slower than light vehicles
Light Tank (LT) | Scout and flanker | Speed, camouflage, view range | Thin armor, lower HP
Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) | Spotter and fire support | Autocannons, guided missiles (ATGMs), mobility | Very little armor
Tank Destroyer (TD) | Long-range damage | Big alpha damage, missiles or heavy guns | Fragile or slow; weak up close
Self-Propelled Gun (SPG) | Support fire | Heavy fire from behind the line | Vulnerable when caught
Class tips:
- MBTs angle their hull to bounce shells and lead pushes. Stay with the team and use hull-down positions on ridges.
- LTs and AFVs win games through spotting: find enemies, then pull back so your team shoots them. Guided missiles let AFVs hit from long range.
- TDs find a firing position with cover and a long sightline; relocate after firing a few times.
- SPGs support pushes and punish enemies who stay still.
Modes
Mode | Players | Notes
PvE | 5 players vs AI | Several difficulty levels, topped by PvE (Legendary). The best place to learn and grind
PvP | Up to 15 vs 15 | Win by capturing the base or eliminating every enemy; 15-minute time limit
Global Operations | Team respawn mode | Dynamic objectives plus "wildcards" such as bomber strikes, UAV drones and AC-130 gunship support
Special Operations | Story PvE missions | Narrative campaigns
Events | Varies | Limited-time missions such as the Legendary-difficulty Escalation event
The Escalation event (August 2026) previewed the new direction for Legendary PvE: a new mission for top-tier vehicles with a modifier system that changes the challenge. After it ended, the developers ran a feedback survey (22 September 2026) and said another new PvE (Legendary) mission is coming later in autumn 2026. Daily and Challenge missions in the Into the West Battle Path can be completed on PvE (Legendary), which gives PvE players a reason to move up once they're ready.
Progression and Currencies
Currency | How you get it | What to spend on
Credits | Every battle | New vehicles, upgrades, repairs, ammo
Gold | Purchased or from events | Premium vehicles, premium time, conversions, cosmetics
Battle Coins | Battle Path missions and events | Battle Path levels and rewards (expire when the path ends)
Legendary Blueprints | Events and Battle Paths | Legendary-tier vehicle progression
Reputation (vehicle XP) | Battles in a vehicle | Unlocking upgrades and next vehicles
Vehicles are sold by dealers (contractors) rather than national tech trees. Each dealer specializes in a different style. Sophie Wölfli, for example, sells heavily armored but mobile American and German MBTs. Pick a dealer whose vehicles you like and follow it.
How to make credits last
- Play a premium vehicle or run premium time when you're grinding credits. It's the single biggest boost to income.
- Don't carry expensive ammo you never fire. Load mostly standard rounds and keep a few special ones for emergencies.
- Sell vehicles you've finished with only after you've taken what you need from them, and keep the ones you enjoy for daily missions.
- Watch for bonus weekends. Events like Tank Crew Day (14 September) come with income boosts; the 2026 one gave +100% Battle Coins until 17 September.
Premium vehicles are sold regularly through Web Shop offers and loot crates; for example, the September 2026 offers included the KF41 Lynx Prototype (Tier 10 Premium AFV) via loot crates, where you collect 100 blueprint pieces to obtain it.
Current Battle Path: Into the West (September 2026)
- Follows the Force Recon Battle Path, which ended on 24 September 2026. On 25 September the developers described Into the West as "right around the corner", so if it hasn't started when you log in, it's due imminently.
- Inspired by the Chinese novel Journey to the West.
- Access: Path of the Warrior (standard paid access) and Path of the Pilgrim (free access to the first 15 levels). Pre-order bundles added a Stone Monkey decal and avatar.
- Main prizes:
- ZBD-100 — Tier 10 Premium AFV at level 15
- Type 100 CSV — Tier 10 Premium Tank Destroyer at level 30
- ZTZ-100 — Tier 10 Premium MBT at level 50
- Synergy: the three vehicles share a battlefield management system. Each one gets the full version of its own buff, and other friendly vehicles within 100 m get a reduced version. For example, the Slipstream buff gives +10% maximum speed and acceleration, or +2.5% in the reduced version. When all three are together, the ZTZ-100's Protection ability extends its active protection system (APS) to 200 m, which creates a bubble that intercepts guided missiles, including FPV ones.
- Other rewards include up to four Pilgrim Loot Crates (each gives a random Premium vehicle of Tier 6 or higher that you don't own yet), around 1,000 Legendary Blueprints from the main levels plus more from overprogression, and themed camouflages, decals, flags, avatars and titles.
How the Battle Path is structured
Part | Details
Main levels | 1–50; each level costs 4,200 Battle Coins
Overprogression | Levels 51–60, which mostly pay out extra Legendary Blueprints
Path of the Pilgrim (free) | Daily Missions and progress through level 15
Path of the Warrior (paid) | All 60 levels, challenges, chain missions and the Battle Path Shop; you can upgrade at any time
Chain missions | Now pay out cosmetics from the earlier Rise of the Dragon Battle Path instead of generic boosters
Mission changes | Fewer of the harder mid-tier Light Tank missions; new SPG and Tier 5–8 daily missions
The ZBD-100 is the level 15 prize, the same level where the free track ends. Before you assume it's free, check the in-game track to see whether it sits on the Pilgrim side or the Warrior side.

Battle Path tips:

- Use Battle Coin boosters during high-activity weekends (for example events with a 100% Battle Coin bonus like Tank Crew Day in September 2026).
- Spend all coins before the path ends.
Combat Fundamentals
Armor and penetration
- Shells must penetrate the armor thickness at the angle they hit. Angling your own armor increases effective thickness.
- Weak spots vary by vehicle, but lower plates, cupolas, sides and rears are common.
- Ammo types: kinetic rounds (APFSDS) for armor, HEAT for versatility, HE for light targets and softer spots, and guided missiles for long range. Carry a mix.
Spotting and camouflage
- Stay still in bushes to stay hidden. Firing reveals you briefly.
- Use view range upgrades on scouts.
- Pull back after spotting so your team does the shooting.
Positioning
- Use hills for hull-down positions: only the turret is exposed.
- Avoid open fields and chokepoints under enemy fire.
- Stay near teammates; lone wolves die fast.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Rushing alone into the enemy team in PvP.
- Firing at armor you cannot penetrate. Aim for weak spots or switch ammunition.
- Sitting still in the open.
- Ignoring repairs and consumables. Always carry repair and extinguisher-type consumables.
- Letting Battle Coins expire.
- Buying every vehicle instead of fully upgrading one line.
- Playing Legendary PvE too early. Build skill on Standard and Hardcore first.
Advanced Tips
- Commanders grant skills and bonuses; choose ones that fit the class you play most.
- Retrofits and upgrades multiply a good vehicle's strengths; prioritize the gun and mobility.
- Platoon with complementary classes — MBT plus AFV spotter is a strong PvE duo.
- Learn PvE mission scripts: bot waves spawn from set directions; pre-aim.
- Global Operations wildcards (air strikes, UAV drones) swing objectives; save them for decisive pushes.
- Weekly offers: if you buy premium vehicles, wait for discounts and check which lines they support.
