A spoiler-light guide to Persona 3 Reload: how the school-year calendar, Social Links, Tartarus, fusion, and the new Shift and Theurgy systems work, plus a month-by-month plan, Full Moon boss prep, and tips for the Episode Aigis epilogue.

Researched September 2026 — current as of the PC version with the October 2025 update that added optional Yumi Kawamura vocal tracks, and the Episode Aigis: The Answer DLC (Sept 2024). Check the linked sources if something differs.

Quick Start

  • Every day matters. The game runs on a calendar from April to the end of January. Days you spend on Social Links, stats, and Tartarus all compete. Nothing is fatal early, but efficient days add up.
  • Social Links make your Personas stronger. A fused Persona gets bonus EXP based on your Social Link rank in its Arcana. Max ranks unlock each Arcana's ultimate Persona.
  • Raise Academics, Charm, and Courage early. Several Social Links and activities are gated behind these social stats.
  • Tartarus is the dungeon. You climb it at night. There's no fatigue system in Reload, so you can do long runs. Just watch your SP.
  • Hit weaknesses, then Shift. Knocking an enemy down grants a One More. Shift passes that extra action to a party member, and knocking all enemies down lets you use an All-Out Attack.
  • Theurgy is your super meter. Each character builds a Theurgy gauge that unlocks a powerful signature attack. Use it on bosses or to wipe dangerous groups.
  • Register every good Persona in the Compendium before you fuse it away. You can buy it back later.
  • Pick your difficulty freely. Reload has Peaceful, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Merciless, and you can change difficulty in the settings.

The Daily Loop

Time | What to do

Morning / class | Answer class questions correctly for Academics

After school (day) | Social Links, clubs, part-time jobs, shopping, stat activities

Evening | Stat activities, dorm activities (cooking, gardening, reading, DVDs), some Social Links, or Tartarus

Dark Hour (night) | Tartarus exploration

Reload quality-of-life:

  • Fast travel from the map.
  • Dorm activities such as cooking, gardening, reading, and watching DVDs, which build stats or give items.
  • Linked Episodes for party members who don't have Social Links.
  • Social Links can reverse, but they can no longer be broken outright.

Social stats

Stat | Raised by

Academics | Studying (library, dorm, cafes), correct class answers, some books

Charm | Specific food, drinks, and activities; correct answers in class

Courage | Specific activities, food, and some jobs

Get all three up steadily. Some Social Links won't start until one of these reaches a certain rank.

There's one Social Link per Arcana. Some advance automatically with the story. The rest you pursue on specific days. Carry a Persona of the matching Arcana when you hang out to earn bonus points.

Arcana | Character(s) | Notes

Fool | S.E.E.S. | Story-driven

Magician | Kenji | Classmate

Priestess | Fuuka | Party member

Empress | Mitsuru | Gated behind high Academics, later in the year

Emperor | Hidetoshi | Student Council (join from April 27)

Hierophant | Bunkichi and Mitsuko | Elderly couple who run the used bookstore on the Iwatodai strip

Lovers | Yukari | Party member

Chariot | Kazushi | Track and Field club (join from April 23)

Justice | Chihiro | Student council

Hermit | Maya | Online game on the dorm PC, Sundays

Fortune | Keisuke | Art Club (join from June 17)

Strength | Yuko | Track team manager

Hanged Man | Maiko | Young girl at the shrine or mall

Death | Pharos | Automatic with the story

Temperance | Andre / Bebe | Fashion Club (needs Hierophant rank 3 and Academics rank 2)

Devil | Tanaka | Paulownia Mall area, evenings

Tower | Mutatsu | Bar area, evenings

Star | Mamoru | Athlete from another school

Moon | Nozomi | Food-obsessed student

Sun | Akinari | Naganaki Shrine, Sundays

Judgement | Story | Automatic late game

Aeon | Aigis | Starts in January, with very little time to max it

Clubs in Reload: Reload trimmed the club list. The Track and Field club (from April 23) starts Chariot and leads to Strength. The Student Council (from April 27) is Emperor. The Art Club (from June 17) is Fortune, and the Fashion Club is Temperance. The original's Swimming, Kendo, Music, and Science clubs were removed, so older P3/P3P guides that mention them don't apply.

Priorities:

  • Social Links whose availability is limited (Sundays only, evening only, or late starters) come first.
  • Links that are always available can fill the gaps.

Tartarus

Tartarus is split into blocks that open as the story advances: Thebel, Arqa, Yabbashah, Tziah, Harabah, Adamah, and finally the Monad Depths.

  • Each block ends at a barrier you can't pass until the next story event.
  • Guardians (mini-bosses) block certain floors, and each block has a big boss at its top.
  • Monad Doors are optional high-difficulty rooms with better rewards.
  • Twilight Fragments open special chests. Pick them up as you go.
  • Missing people show up in Tartarus on certain dates. Rescue them for rewards before their deadline.
  • Shuffle Time after battles lets you choose rewards: new Personas, items, or bonuses. In Reload you pick the card yourself.

Efficient climbing:

  • Clear a block right after it opens, then fill the rest of the month with Social Links.
  • Use teleporters to return to the entrance and heal. There's no fatigue penalty, so you're limited only by SP and items.

Combat

  • Weakness, then knockdown, then One More. Hitting a weakness or landing a critical knocks the enemy down and gives you another action.
  • Shift: pass your One More to another party member so they can hit a different weakness.
  • All-Out Attack: when every enemy is down, you can use it for heavy damage.
  • Theurgy: each character's gauge fills through their specific actions. Theurgy attacks hit hard and cost no SP, which makes them ideal for bosses.
  • Element coverage for your party:
  • Yukari: wind and healing
  • Junpei: fire and slash
  • Akihiko: electricity and strike
  • Mitsuru: ice
  • Aigis: pierce
  • Ken, Koromaru, and Shinjiro join later with their own coverage

Personas and Fusion

  • Velvet Room: fuse Personas with Elizabeth's help. Normal fusions use two Personas, triangle fusions use three, and special fusions have fixed recipes.
  • Level cap: you can only fuse a Persona up to your current level.
  • Social Link bonus: a fused Persona gets bonus EXP based on your rank in its Arcana.
  • Skill inheritance: fused Personas inherit some skills from their ingredients. Plan fusions to carry buffs, heals, and weakness coverage.
  • Compendium: register good Personas so you can buy them back after fusing them away.
  • Build rule: your protagonist should always carry at least one Persona per element you might need, plus one with healing and one with buffs or debuffs.

Full Moon Operations (Main Bosses)

Full Moon nights bring major story battles. Prepare by leveling in Tartarus and carrying a Persona that covers each boss's likely weakness.

Date | Operation

April 9 | Magician Arcana shadow (the awakening fight at the dorm)

May 9 | Priestess Arcana shadow

June 8 | Empress and Emperor

July 7 | Hierophant and Lovers

August 6 | Tank-form Shadow, then Chariot and Justice

September 5 | Hermit

October 4 | Fortune and Strength

November 3 | Strega (Jin and Takaya), then Hanged Man

January 31 | Final day: Jin and Takaya again, then the Nyx Avatar

Recommended levels climb steadily, from about 10 for the May Priestess to the mid-50s by November and the mid-70s for January 31 (Game8's estimates). Keep your level and Personas on pace with Tartarus's upper blocks as the story reaches them.

General boss tips:

  • Buff attack and defense, debuff the boss, then spend Theurgy.
  • Keep one healer ready and switch Personas mid-fight to block elements the boss uses.
  • Many story bosses resist or null several elements. Test with cheap skills first.

Missables and Time Pressure

  • Social Links that start late (for example Aeon in January) or that only run on certain days need planning. If you're going for all 22, use a calendar.
  • Missing people in Tartarus have deadlines.
  • Elizabeth's Requests have their own deadlines and rewards. Check the list regularly.
  • Exams: study the week before for Academics and rewards.
  • New Game Plus carries a lot forward, so a second run can mop up what you missed.

Episode Aigis: The Answer (DLC)

  • Released September 10, 2024 as part of the Expansion Pass (Wave 3).
  • It's an epilogue remake. You play as Aigis, starting in March, after the main story.
  • The dungeon is the Abyss of Time, and it introduces Metis with her own gauge mechanic.
  • It adds a new difficulty, Heartless, which blocks you from using a Persona Compendium carried over from earlier saves, plus Monad Doors for extra challenge.
  • Expect a much harder, grind-heavier campaign than the main game. Use the new Theurgy options and the full cast's coverage.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Ignoring social stats until they gate a Social Link in autumn.
  • Fusing away your best Personas without registering them.
  • Hanging out without a matching Arcana Persona. You lose bonus progress.
  • Leaving Tartarus blocks for the last week. Clear early, then socialize.
  • Neglecting buffs and debuffs on bosses.
  • Running out of SP deep in a run. Carry SP items and use teleporters.
  • Choosing clubs without planning for their Social Links.

Advanced Tips

  • Shift chains: order your party so each Shift lands on a different weakness to knock down whole groups.
  • Theurgy timing: save a charged Theurgy for a boss's dangerous phase, not the first turn.
  • Fusion for the Social Link bonus: fuse a Persona right after a Social Link rank-up to get the extra EXP.
  • Dorm cooking and gardening give useful consumables and stat gains. They're free value on nights you're not in Tartarus.
  • Theurgy and weakness-based builds carry over well to Merciless difficulty, where weaknesses deal much more damage.
  • Music option: the October 2025 update added eight Yumi Kawamura vocal tracks from the original P3 and P3 FES (including Burn My Dread -Last Battle- and Mass Destruction). You can set them under Config > System > Change Battle BGM, Change Boss Battle BGM, or Change Dungeon BGM.
