Every Nurture has a 3% chance to spawn a Prismana instantly, and 22 to 25 Nurtures guarantee one. Here is the full math, the Basic-pod Lucky Strike farm, which Prismana skills are worth unlocking, and how Sparkling, Umbral and Alpha stack into the rarest Aniimo in the game.
Prismana at a glance
A Prismana form has no stat advantage over the normal form. Its value is an exclusive skill: catch one Prismana and every member of that species can learn the skill for free. Some forms also gain a second element.
Any energy gain can surge the area straight to full and spawn the Prismana. 2:55
Nurtures to fill an area without any lucky surge. 3:39
Vein Essence per Prismana, by Kairos's estimate.
Every way to get one
- Nurture at a Bloom to trigger a Prismana Flow (the main method)
- Lucky and Super Lucky Strikes while catching anything in the area (free, nearly unlimited)
- Prismana Pact: pick 1 of 14 for free (claim at Wayfarer I, after level 40 and the Promotion: Stardust's Blessing quest; you can change the pick until you claim)
- Events and eggs: Vein Abundance weeks, Prismana Eggs, Egg Heist and trip eggs, the paid Companion Handbook (Prismana Fulmintis)
- Prismana Crystal in Change Weather (instant spawn, but it wipes the area's energy, so only use it on an empty area)
- Prismana Orb (turns an Aniimo into its Prismana form, only if you already own that form)
A Prismana can still roll Common or Good potential. Only an egg that says Elite or Perfect, an Aniipod Ultra (Elite or better) or a Sparkling Cube (Perfect) guarantees quality. 1:32
Which Prismana to get first: Glacy
Take Prismana Glacy first, whether it's your free Prismana Pact pick or your next Nurture target. Its Glimmer Shot buffs the whole team regardless of element, so it's never wasted. Game8 and Kairos agree. 0:00
Prismana Glacy
Glimmer Shot: +15% team damage for 20s, 10 EP, 1s cooldown. Swap in, fire it, swap out. Kairos calls it "one of the freest damage boosts in the game." She also heals the whole party, so she fits Fire DPS in a Grass sim, Lightning DPS in a Water sim, or anything else.
Why flashy picks are risky
A DPS Prismana is only good against what it counters. Kairos's example is Prismana Stellarys (Dark + Ice): her Dark attacks deal 37.5% less to Water and Wind, her Ice attacks deal 37.5% less to Fire, Ice and Earth, and she takes 60% more from Light, Wind and Fire. Holo-Battle Sim rotates its elements, so a counter-dependent DPS sits out some weeks. Glacy never does. 1:00
Same-element attacks get +10% damage. A Prismana skill learned by the normal form loses that bonus if the element doesn't match. It barely matters for Glimmer Shot, but Prismana Stellarys's Ice skills hit weaker on a regular Dark Stellarys. 22:30
Prismana value table: what each one unlocks
Game8 ranks Prismana by the skill they unlock for the whole species, not by combat strength or looks (tier list updated Sep 22). Use it to decide what to Nurture next.
Prismana | Unlocks | What it does | Value
Glacy | Glimmer Shot | Light orb. On hit, whole team +15% damage for 20s. Low EP, fits any team. | S
Turbo | Nebula Burst | AoE slam that gives teammates +15% Dark damage for 20s. Core of Dark teams. | S
Blazen | Dark Claw | Dark claw combo that Silences for 4s. Mostly for PvP and Pathfinder Challenges. | A
Cornet | Lightning Splitter | Electric projectiles; multiple hits on one target Paralyze for 5s. | A
Fenmane | Radiant Dart | Piercing dart; each hit stacks −5% healing received (up to 16 stacks). PvP. | A
Grizbo | Claw of Madness | 3-hit claw; the third hit makes the next skill give double Rage. | A
Hexxin | Malicious Outburst | Wide burst that cuts shields the target gains by 44% for 20s. | A
Infergon | Gale Charge | Charge that reflects projectiles; closes distance on ranged enemies. | A
Magmarex | Dark Energy Surge | Dark spike wave that stuns 2.5s, without needing Fire Debuff stacks. | A
Sherro | Prismana Slam | Shell strike; near water it widens, adds 45% Might damage and Super Armor. | A
Thornblade | Aqua Defense | −20% damage stance with a counter; a well-timed hit applies Blockade. PvP. | A
Waleetle | Darkwheel Slash | High-speed roll with +400% damage to shields. | A
Fulmintis | Enhanced Light Blade | Same effect as the base Enhanced Lightning Blade (+35% skill crit). Paid pass only. | B
Glynsera | Prismana Slash | Light version of Ice Strikes, but applies no Ice Debuff, which Glynsera needs. | B
Luminelle | Healing Impact | Heal beam that only reaches on-field allies. | B
Panpanta | Water Cannonade | AoE water ball, puddle, 5 Water Debuff stacks. Modest gain. | B
Stellarys | Chill Glide | Ice star glide; outclassed by the base Shadow Magic and Shooting Stars. | B
Ignitis, Iris, Pawney, Scorchhowl | None | No new skill. Looks only. | C
A C-tier entry here can still be a great unit. Prismana Scorchhowl is S in Game8's overall tier list; it just doesn't unlock anything for regular Scorchhowl. The Prismana Inferlupa skill (Blazing Wolf Assault, summons clones) is newer than this tier list, so it isn't ranked.
Nurture: the math behind a guaranteed Prismana
Open the map → Deliver Lumen Amber → Nurture. The panel lists which Prismana each area spawns, its energy level, and a teleport button. When an area's energy bar fills, its Prismana spawns. 0:00
The rules
- Catch at least 40% of an area's Aniimo before you can nurture there (for Glacy, 40% of Driftwise Meadow).
- Nurture to start a Wild Surge, then catch everything within 2 minutes. Only catches send Vein Essence to the Bloom. Kills don't. 1:15
- Ignore offerings for Prismana. An offering doesn't change which Prismana spawns. It only helps you hunt that species' Umbral, a wild Sparkling or a Perfect copy.
- When it spawns, take your time. The map marks it, it doesn't flee and it doesn't attack. Bring the right pod.
Number | Value | What it means for you
Free Nurtures | 1 per day, banks up to 3 | Nurture at least every 3 days or you waste them.
Daily Nurture cap | 15, or 25 after enough Lumen Amber deliveries | At 15 a day, the 22 to 25 pity takes two days. At 25 it fits in one.
Instant Flow chance | 3% per Nurture | Over 22 Nurtures, that's roughly a 49% chance a surge spawns it before pity (our math: 1 − 0.97²²).
Pity | 22 to 25 Nurtures | Without lucky surges, this is your worst case.
Event Nurtures | e.g. 3 extra for one species | Free attempts for a specific Prismana. Use them.
Fill the bar faster
- Catch 100% of the area. Energy builds faster, but you need that area's Prismana for 100%, so it only speeds up duplicates. It's ideal for areas that host rotating event Prismana. 0:38
- Nurture in a friend's world. It gives a little energy at first and a "significant amount" at the highest friendship level. 1:05
- Lucky and Super Lucky Strikes add energy too (next section).
"Eventually you will be wishing you had more Vein Essence." If you're F2P, spend it only on Prismana you actually want, and always buy the 10 Vein Essence in the weekly Companion Handbook Exchange. 2:03
The infinite Prismana farm: Basic pods and Fatal Shots
Every throw that catches an Aniimo has a small chance of a Lucky or Super Lucky Strike, which raises the Prismatic Energy of the area you're in. It needs no Vein Essence and keeps working after your daily Nurtures run out. 0:00
- Go to the region whose Prismana you want. Any Aniimo there counts. Kairos farmed Prismana Stellarys in the Forest of Falling Stars by catching Celestis.
- Pick a Vein Abundance week if you can. The event floods one species into the region, so you teleport in surrounded by easy targets.
- Throw Basic Aniipods from behind. A first-throw catch is a Fatal Shot and refunds 46% of the 3,500-credit pod. Backstabs make first-throw catches reliable. 0:50
- Reposition after a failed throw. The Aniimo pops out facing the same way, so step behind it again.
- Go AFK if you like. Hold the mouse button and your character keeps throwing. Credit return is lower, but missed pods come back. You only lose a pod that hits and fails. 3:52
- Stop when you run out of pods or Aniimo storage.
82 Fatal Shots, 90 catches, about 203,000 credits back: a 59% return. 2:34
Sparkling Crystals per Super Lucky (he got 19 to 23). 1,000 Crystals buy a Sparkling Cube.
A Prismana Stellarys appeared; he caught it with a Sparkling Cube (sparkle type 8). 4:25
Weekly Lucky Strike rates
Strike | Chance per catch | Guaranteed after
Lucky, first 10 each week | 1% | 200 catches
Lucky, after that | 0.5% | 400 catches
Super Lucky, first each week | captions say "2%", most likely 0.2% | 500 catches
Super Lucky, second | 0.1% | 1,000 catches
Super Lucky, after that | 0.05% | 3,000 catches
Rates from Kairos's tips video 1:40. Basic pods stay the cheapest way to farm them, even though Pro and Mega catch more often.
Vein Abundance schedule
Week | Prismana | Region
Sep 21 – 27 | Prismana Glynsera | Beast Fang Ridge
Sep 28 – Oct 4 | Prismana Melloblum | Rosetower Woods
Oct 5 – 11 | Prismana Waleetle | Berylline Vale
Oct 12 – 18 | Prismana Inferlupa | Nimbus Fields
Game8 reports that all four event Prismana return to their regions from Oct 19 to 25. If you catch 100% of a region now, its energy builds faster when they come back.
Umbral, Alpha, Sparkling, Dazzling and Shadow
Apart from Prismana skills and an Alpha's pre-boosted core skill, every rarity layer is cosmetic. They stack, and that's where the rarest Aniimo come from.
Layer | How to get it | Guarantee | Perk
Umbral | Egg Heist eggs (level 50+), random spawns, including during Nurture | Always Perfect, even with a Basic pod | Looks. Evolving or changing form removes it.
Alpha | Defeat and catch, Alpha eggs | None | Core skill comes pre-enhanced (worth 10 Marks of the Strong). Bigger when not Twined. Survives evolution.
Sparkling | Eggs (Wonder Egg), wild spawns at 1 in 2,000, Sparkling Cube, 10 Sparkling Sigils | Cube = Perfect | Looks only. 12 sparkle variants.
Dazzling / Shadow | The two rare sparkle variants. Reroll with a Sparkling Pigment (= 5 Sigils) | About 1% per reroll | Looks only.
Weather form | Check the forecast; one spawn per storm, no respawn | None | Different element and learnable skills.
Sparkling Sigils
You get one per Sparkling you catch. Ten Sigils turn any regular Aniimo into a random Sparkling version with no stat change, so you can make your Perfect DPS shiny. 3:46
Making an Umbral sparkle
Umbral is already Perfect, so use 10 Sigils, not a Cube. And never evolve it: an "Umbral-looking" Prismana is really a Shadow Sparkling. 6:41
Converting an Alpha
An Alpha can become forms you've caught: Morph Orb (weather or regional), Sigils (Sparkling), Prismana Orb (Prismana). Not Umbral, and a non-Alpha can never become an Alpha. 7:20
Cheap Perfect weather forms
Catch the weather form with any pod just to register it, farm a Perfect normal copy, then spend 1 Morph Orb to convert it. 10:02
Kairos (citing the Chinese beta) says there's one story Legendary, catchable once, so never release it. Game8 lists both Somniwing and Irisalis as Legendary. Either way, don't release one.
Rarity stacking odds and the rarest Aniimo
Per spawn. Catching every Aniimo in an area earns a badge that Kairos says raises Sparkling and Umbral spawns by 50%. 3:05
Per Pigment reroll. On average that's about 100 rerolls, or 500 Sigils from 500 Sparklings caught (our math).
Chance you've hit one by then (1 − 0.99¹⁰⁰). There's no pity that we know of.
The rarest possible Aniimo: Perfect Alpha Prismana Dazzling (or Shadow) Sparkling
- Catch an Alpha of the species with a Sparkling Cube. You get Perfect and Sparkling, and the Alpha is bigger when not Twined.
- Catch that species' Prismana form with any pod, just to unlock the morph.
- Use a Prismana Orb on the Alpha. It keeps innate potentials, traits and personality.
- Farm Sparkling Pigments and reroll until you hit Dazzling or Shadow. 10:19
The result has no extra stats and costs a fortune. A normal Prismana caught with a Sparkling Cube plus a 10-Mark contract is "just as strong."
Which pod to throw
Pod | Use it for
Basic | Lucky Strike farming and anything easy. Most credit-efficient (3,500, with a 46% Fatal Shot refund).
Tumbler | Nurture only: 6× catch rate there. Clear easy targets with Basics first.
Mega | Alphas. You'll catch plenty, so don't spend Ultras on them.
Ultra | Prismana or Sparkling spawns for your combat party (Elite or better). Never on Umbral, which is already Perfect.
Sparkling Cube | Perfect + Sparkling: your favorite Prismana, a scarce endgame pick, or step 1 of the rarest Aniimo. On a spawn that's already Perfect, it can roll above 8/8 (not guaranteed).
Any pod | A Prismana you only need to register, for example to unlock the skill or a Prismana Orb conversion. 4:17
