Water is a puddle element: half the roster makes puddles and the other half eats them for damage, break and EP. Here is the build for every released Water Aniimo, plus the team that keeps the puddles flowing.

Water at a glance

Water hits Fire and Earth for 1.6× and is resisted by Water, Grass, Ice and Light (0.625×). Its real strength is defense: Water units resist four elements, including Fire, which Water hard-counters.

Fire takes 1.6× from you and deals only 0.625× back, so this is one of the game's three hard counters.

Water Grass Ice Light

All three hit Water for 1.6×. Water shrugs off Fire, Water, Earth and Dark (0.625×).

Wind, Lightning and Dark are neutral targets. In practice, Water is your Fire-boss and Earth-boss team, and the safest team to bring into a fight you don't know.

Every Water Aniimo, ranked

Ranked by Game8's overall tier (Oct 6). GameWith's (Oct 14) is shown alongside, and it's a full tier or more higher on almost every Water unit.

Aniimo | Role | Game8 | GameWith | Note

Prismana Glacy | Heal | S | SS | Water + Light. Universal +15% team damage.

Leafy | Regen | A | S | Water + Grass, but built for Grass teams (S in Game8's Grass ranking).

Sherro | DPS | A | S | The Water DPS. Prismana and Thunderstorm forms are also A.

Piopiota | Support | A | A+ | Instant 4 puddles, team heal, Water Boost.

Glacy | Heal | B | S | Water + Ice. Learns Glimmer Shot once you own a Prismana.

Prismana Panpanta | Break | B | S+ | Same as Panpanta, plus a Water Debuff skill.

Panpanta | Break | B | A | The only Water breaker. A in Game8's Water ranking.

Erlath | Regen | B | S | Water-only EP battery. A in Game8's Water ranking.

Popapus and Gachapus (Water DPS) and the Water-dual Bubbeep and Glameep come from closed-beta data for the Whisperwake Isle region, reported for Oct 29. They aren't playable in 1.1, so they aren't in this guide. Ignore tier lists that rank them.

Water DPS and Break builds

Water has one DPS line and one Break line, and both are built around the same resource: puddles. Every build below assumes someone on the team is making them.

Sherro

Flowing Water Slash fires 3 slashes plus a finisher if all 3 land. Near water it absorbs a puddle and upgrades them to water blades for an extra 30% Might. Absorbing water also triggers its trait, Tidal Heart: +20% Water damage for 10s. Torrent Slam adds +15% damage for 20s when it hits puddles. Stand in water and Sherro has two self-buffs running at all times.

Prismana and weather forms. Prismana Sherro (Water + Light) and Thunderstorm Sherro (Water + Lightning) are both Game8 A in the Water ranking and use the same two skills and Ferocious Fang. Game8 lists Thunderstorm with ESFP instead of ESTP. Catching each one unlocks a shell skill for every Sherro: Prismana Slam (+45% Might near water and 5s of Super Armor) or Thunder Slam (+70% damage near water). Prismana Sherro is the reward for beating Lita's Lv 65 rematch at Boomblast Arena (account level 60 first). Thunderstorm Sherro spawns in Echoback Landing only during a thunderstorm.

Panpanta

Water Cannon makes a puddle, and Hydro Roll absorbs it for +30% BREAK efficiency for 15s, then rolls into the target until the shield goes. Its trait, Appeal, adds another +30% on entry if your party has an opposite-sex Susuta-family member, which means Piopiota. The weak spot: Hydro Roll struggles against enemies that move a lot.

Prismana Panpanta (GameWith S+, Game8 B) swaps Water Cannon for Water Cannonade, which also makes a puddle and adds 5 Water Debuff stacks. Catching one unlocks Cannonade for every Panpanta, so you get the upgrade either way. It appears on an island off Echoback Landing when the region has Prismatic Energy, one at a time, with no respawn.

Evolved forms keep their pre-evolution's equipped skills, so a fresh Sherro still has Shelly's two. Kairos: Sherro's best is Flowing Water Slash, so re-equip it. 21:00 Alpha status also survives evolution, so Alpha Shelly becomes Alpha Sherro, and a Prismana Orb then makes it a Prismana Alpha Sherro. 5:30

Water Heal and Support builds

This is where Water is deepest. Prismana Glacy fits every team in the game. Piopiota is the puddle engine for a mono-Water team.

Prismana Glacy

Glimmer Shot: +15% damage for the whole team for 20s, for 10 EP, with almost no time on the field. Healing Water heals all allies for 8% of Glacy's max HP and heals the active unit more over time. It's element-neutral, so it slots into every team, which is why Kairos calls it the safe first Prismana.

Base Glacy (Water + Ice, Game8 B, GameWith S) has the same stats and heals but runs Water Orb in place of Glimmer Shot. Once you own any Prismana Glacy, every Glacy can learn Glimmer Shot for free. It loses the 10% same-type bonus, which hardly matters on a healer. Catching a Snowfield Skippy, Pranky or Glacy unlocks Ice Orb, which Freezes the target for 2.5s.

Piopiota

Surf creates 4 puddles at once, the most of any Water skill. You can spend them on Surge, a team heal for 4% max HP that doubles for each puddle absorbed (up to 4), or leave them for Sherro, Panpanta and Erlath. The ultimate adds +20% Water Elemental Boost for 30s. Its trait, Radiant Charm, gives opposite-sex teammates +16% Water damage.

His order: level, then a Capa Fruit, then star up, then HP only with about 3 points elsewhere, then Miraculous Fleece, then the core-skill contract. Both heals scale with HP, which is why HP comes first. 3:34 For personality he kept a roll with Judicious rather than burn Psyche Fruits chasing a perfect ISTJ. 6:10

Water Regen builds

Water has two Regen units, and neither is universal. Erlath refills EP only off Water skills. Leafy refills EP only for Grass-type teammates.

Erlath

Bubbles lays a field. Every Water skill a teammate casts inside it adds a bubble, up to 6, and tapping again pops them for 4 EP each, plus 10 EP if Erlath absorbed a puddle. In a full Water team that's about 30 to 40 EP per cycle. Its trait creates a puddle every 12s, and the ultimate fills all 6 bubbles and gives +16% Water damage for 30s.

Leafy

Water by type, Grass by job. Vitality Blooms restores 2.4 EP per second to Grass-type teammates for 12s, and Lotus Bloom heals the team for 15% max HP and gives +15% Grass Elemental Boost for 30s. On a Water team it's mostly a healer. On a Grass team it's S tier: Kairos names it the better support for Irisalis.

Best Water teams and rotations

Both guide sites build the same core: Sherro, a Panpanta, and Erlath. They differ on the fourth slot. Game8 wants Prismana Glacy's damage buff, and GameWith wants Piopiota's puddles.

Sherro / Panpanta / Prismana Glacy / Erlath

Sherro's own page puts Somniwing in for Erlath. Use Somniwing if you have it, because it doesn't depend on Water casts.

Sherro / Piopiota / Prismana Panpanta / Erlath

Fully mono-Water, so every skill feeds Erlath's bubbles. Pick an opposite-sex Piopiota and Panpanta and both traits turn on.

Rotation

  • Erlath: Bubbles first, so every Water skill after it builds bubbles.
  • Make puddles. Piopiota's Surf (4) or Panpanta's Water Cannon (1). Erlath's trait adds one every 12s.
  • Panpanta: Hydro Roll through a puddle for +30% break efficiency, and keep rolling until the shield breaks. Leave a puddle behind.
  • Buff inside the window: Glimmer Shot, or Wrath of the Sea, or Crazy Bubbles if it's up. Pop Erlath's bubbles at 4+ to refill.
  • Sherro: Torrent Slam on the puddles (+15%), Flowing Water Slash to absorb one (+20% from Tidal Heart), then Torrent Blade.
  • Repeat, recasting Glimmer Shot between rotations so the buff never drops.

Swaps, budget and F2P options

If you don't have | Use | Why

Prismana Glacy | Piopiota or base Glacy | Game8's named alternative healer, and it makes puddles too. A base Glacy learns Glimmer Shot once anyone on your account owns the Prismana.

Erlath | Somniwing or Besauce | Universal batteries. Somniwing comes from Elite Training (180 objectives), and Besauce from 40 Pathfinder-trial fragments.

Prismana Panpanta | Alpha Panpanta | Same break kit, and it's free in Echoback Landing. You lose only Cannonade's Water stacks.

Prismana or Thunderstorm Sherro | Sherro | Same build and skills. The Prismana skills unlock on base Sherro once you've caught the form.

Advanced Water tips

Run the puddle economy

Count your puddles the way a Fire team counts stacks. Every Water team has more puddle-eaters than puddle-makers, so plan who gets them.

Makers

Piopiota Surf (4, or 6 contracted), Panpanta Water Cannon / Cannonade (1 each), Erlath trait (1 every 12s).

Eaters

Sherro Flowing Water Slash (up to 3, or none if contracted), Panpanta Hydro Roll (1, +30% break), Erlath Bubbles (1, +10 EP), Piopiota Surge (up to 4, doubling the heal each time).

Feed Panpanta first (it can't break efficiently without one), then Sherro (damage window), then Erlath (EP). Spend them on Surge only when the team is in trouble.

Use the opposite-sex Susuta trick

Piopiota and Panpanta both come from Susuta, and both have a trait that checks for an opposite-sex partner. Panpanta's Appeal gives itself +30% BREAK efficiency on entry, and Piopiota's Radiant Charm gives opposite-sex teammates +16% Water damage. Check sexes before you invest in either one. One pair turns on both traits.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Erlath on a mixed team. Bubbles only build from Water skills. With one Water unit it's a weak battery, so run Somniwing instead.
  • Leafy as a Water battery. Vitality Blooms refills Grass-type teammates only. Bring it to Grass.
  • Hydro Roll into a mobile boss. Game8 warns it whiffs against enemies that move a lot. Lean on Water Cannon and basics, or bring Rookey.
  • Keeping Shelly's skills after evolving. Re-equip Flowing Water Slash on Sherro.
  • Water into Grass, Ice, Light or Water. All four resist you, and Grass and Ice hit you back for 1.6×.

Rain, thunderstorms and standing in water put Water Debuff stacks on your Aniimo, up to −20% Water resistance. Kairos shows it on the stat screen. That's harmless against Fire and Earth bosses, but it hurts in a Water-vs-Water fight. 11:08

What to invest in first

  • Prismana Glacy, because it goes on every team you'll ever build, not just Water. Take it as your free level-40 Prismana. 0:00
  • Sherro, Water's only DPS. Start the Shelly line early, since the Omega Sherro unlock comes later in the story.
  • Panpanta (the Alpha is free), then Erlath or Piopiota depending on which team you run.
  • Prismana and Thunderstorm Sherro last. Catch them to unlock their skills, but you don't have to rebuild your Sherro around them.

Check the weather forecast. Weather forms spawn once per storm, and he's still missing Thunderstorm Sherro because he ignored it. 3:45 For the one-time Lv 65 Lita fight that unlocks Prismana Sherro, he reset Capability on other Aniimo to build a temporary team. A reset costs 200,000 credits and only works before level 61. 15:03 And sit in a Water park chair at home: he runs +7% Water damage and resistance from park buffs. 28:35

Holo-Battle Sim's current rotation includes a Fire sim, and Kairos's example pick for it is a Water DPS. That's a 1.6× clear on weekly high-value rewards. 1:52 For the full multiplier stack, see the damage guide.
