A player's guide to Clone Drone in the Danger Zone: sword fundamentals, upgrade priorities, story and Endless tips, and how the multiplayer modes (Last Bot Standing, co-op and the newer Team Battles) actually play.

Researched September 2026 — current as of the Night Mode Update (8 July 2026), which followed the Team Battle Update (26 March 2026). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.

Quick Start

  • Every hit can kill or dismember. Combat is voxel-based: blows cut off whatever they touch. Losing a leg means hopping; losing both arms means you cannot swing. Position so you land the first clean hit.
  • Aim for the head and body, not the weapon. A strike that clips a limb only dismembers; a strike through the torso or head kills.
  • Movement is your defence. Backstep out of swings, circle enemies, and use height. Standing still in a crowd is death.
  • Upgrades persist through a run, not forever. In Story, Endless and co-op you earn upgrade picks between levels. Plan a build instead of grabbing randomly.
  • Big enemies must be cut down to size. Store text says it directly: large robots need their limbs removed before you can land a fatal blow.
  • Kicks and jetpacks change fights. Kicking knocks enemies off ledges and into hazards; the jetpack gets you out of trouble and adds aerial attacks.
  • Endless mode is the skill test. 86 level variants across 7 difficulty tiers; reaching Titanium is the classic goal, and Insanium sits beyond it.
  • Multiplayer is free-for-all or team-based. Last Bot Standing supports up to 15 players; Team Battles puts you on Commentatron's red team or Analysis-Bot's green team.

Combat Fundamentals

Weapons

Weapon | Strengths | Notes

Sword | Fast, reliable, good reach | The default; master this first

Bow | Ranged damage and ledge control | Great for thinning groups before they close

Hammer | Huge swings that crush through groups | Slow; commit only when you will connect

Spear | Long reach, good for poking | Keeps enemies at a safer distance

Greatsword | Heavy, wide swings | Has its own Endless Greatsword Challenge

Kick | Knockback | Push enemies off edges or into hazards

Core techniques

  • Swing-and-step. Swing as you step in, then step back out of range. Trading hits is how you lose limbs.
  • Fight one at a time. Pull enemies apart. Kite a group until one gets ahead of the others.
  • Use ledges and pits. A kick into a hazard is a free kill and avoids a sword duel.
  • Watch windups. Hammer bots and larger robots telegraph heavy swings; bait them, sidestep, then counter.
  • Deflection matters. The deflection upgrade lets your sword block incoming arrows, which makes archer-heavy levels far easier.
  • Legs first on giants. Take out a leg to bring a large enemy's head into reach.

Upgrades and Builds

Between levels you pick upgrades. The store page lists the main categories: jetpack, bow, kicking, deflection, clones, armour and Flame Breath, plus weapon improvements and lower cooldowns.

Upgrade type | Why take it

Sword upgrades | More damage per swing and better reliability in every fight

Armour | Lets you survive hits that would otherwise dismember or kill

Clones | Extra lives within the run

Jetpack | Mobility, escapes and aerial attacks

Bow upgrades | Stronger ranged pressure and multi-arrow shots

Kick | Knockback power; excellent on maps with pits

Deflection | Blocks arrows with your sword

Flame Breath | Sets enemies alight; great against crowds

Suggested priorities

  • Sword first. It is the weapon you use most.
  • Survivability next (armour or clones), especially before harder tiers.
  • One utility pick (jetpack or kick) that matches the levels you see most.
  • Deflection once archers start showing up in numbers.
  • Specialise late. Flame Breath and heavy weapons shine once your fundamentals are covered.

Getting every upgrade in the tree in one run is its own achievement ("POWER OVERWHELMING").

Story Mode

Your mind has been harvested and uploaded into a robot gladiator. The story runs across five chapters (each has a "Story Insanity" achievement for beating it on Insane): escaping the arena, gathering allies, and finally taking the fight to the robot Emperor. Expect set-piece boss fights, including Spidertron-class robots, and chapters that hand you mind transfers into other robot bodies.

Tips:

  • Play on a lower difficulty first to learn the set pieces, then return on Insane for the per-chapter "Story Insanity" achievements.
  • Mind transfers are lifelines. When you can transfer into another robot, that body's weapon and abilities come with it, so pick one suited to the next fight.
  • Explore arenas. Hazards and ledges are often intended solutions.

Endless Mode

Endless is the long-term skill ladder: 86 level variants across 7 difficulty tiers. Titanium is the well-known milestone ("I am Titanium!"), and Insanium is beyond it (the achievement quips "They don't call it Sanium.").

How to go further:

  • Treat each level as a puzzle. Identify archers and heavies first, then choose engagement order.
  • Do not waste clones early. Early tiers are where you should play cleanly.
  • Keep a ranged option. Later tiers stack archers and large robots; a bow or deflection is essential.
  • Retreat to reset. If a level goes wrong, back off and fight at a chokepoint.

Multiplayer

Last Bot Standing

A battle-royale-style mode with short 5–10 minute sessions and up to 15 players.

  • Avoid early third-party fights. Let others trade limbs, then clean up.
  • Grab upgrades when safe. Upgrades change fights dramatically.
  • Use the edges. Kicking a player off a ledge is as good as a sword kill.

Team Battle (King of the Hill)

Added on 26 March 2026. Players split into red Team Commentatron and green Team Analysis-Bot. Capture and hold the Hill for 90 seconds to win.

Launch maps (March 2026) | Night Mode Update maps (July 2026)

The Pit | Desert (climb an industrial structure among pyramids)

Spire of DOOM | Lava Islands (the floor is literally lava)

Broken Tubes | Deep Space

Ultimate Battle |

Team Battle tips:

  • Stick together. Multiple teammates can receive upgrades from the same drop, so grouping snowballs faster.
  • Laser and Giant Size are not kept after respawning, so avoid dying while you hold those.
  • Contest, then clear. The Hill only counts for your team when it is uncontested.
  • Kick defenders off the hill instead of dueling them in place.
  • Pick a win emote in the settings or emote customisation menu for the victory sequence.
  • Team Battle achievements reward exactly these habits: Hill Killer (take the hill by killing its last defender), Get Outta Here (kick someone off the hill), Upgrade With Friends (share an upgrade drop), plus 10 wins on each side for Team Commentatron! and Analyze this!

Co-op

Endless Co-op and Co-op Challenges let friends revive each other ("Team Player" requires 3 revives in a public game). Play to one person's strengths: one kiting archers with a bow, one holding the line with a sword.

Cosmetics: Supporter Packs Replace Clonebux

As of the Night Mode Update (8 July 2026), Doborog stopped selling Clonebux. Cosmetics are now sold as Supporter Packs (DLC bundles on the store). The current packs are Night Mode, Fast Lane and Horse Power. Existing Clonebux stay in your account and still buy individual skins, and players who had bought Clonebux received a one-time bonus so their purchasing power stayed the same. Cosmetics do not affect gameplay. The update also added free Commentatron and Analysis-Bot skins for everyone.

Challenge Mode Tips

Challenges strip your kit down to one tool, which makes them the best practice there is for Endless:

  • Bow Only: keep distance, use height, and shoot legs on big robots so they cannot close.
  • Hammer Only: every swing is slow, so bait an enemy swing first, then crush.
  • Kick Only: play the map, not the enemy. Every pit and ledge is a weapon. (Kicking a kick bot to death earns "How do you like it??".)
  • Mind Transfer: each new body brings its own weapon; pick the next host for the fight ahead, not the one nearest you.
  • Raptor and Raptor Insanity: raptor-focused runs where speed matters; hit-and-run beats standing trades.
  • Random Upgrade: adapt instead of fighting your build; lean on whatever the run hands you.
  • Co-op versions exist for most challenges and are the fastest way to learn them with a partner.

Mastery achievements (500 kills each with Sword, Hammer, Bow and Spear; 200 kick kills; 300 jetpack kills; 300 Flame Breath kills) accrue naturally if you rotate weapons between runs.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Swinging while standing still. Always pair a swing with a step.
  • Charging archers across open ground. Take cover, use a bow, or get deflection.
  • Ignoring hazards. Pits, lava and traps kill you as readily as enemies do.
  • Spreading upgrades too thin. A focused build wins more runs.
  • Solo-pushing in Team Battles. You will be outnumbered on the Hill.
  • Assuming skins are pay-to-win. They are purely cosmetic; spend on upgrades that matter in-run.

Advanced Tips

  • Cut weapons arms first on heavies when you cannot reach their head.
  • Aerial strikes: melee from high above the ground ("I'm like a bird!") is strong when combined with the jetpack.
  • Chain kills with one swing. Lining up enemies lets a single attack kill several ("M-m-m-m-multikill!" needs 3).
  • Practise one-legged survival. Hopping fights happen; "Tis but a scratch!" asks you to win 3 levels in a row on one leg.
  • Use the level editor to build drills against the enemies you struggle with.
  • Try the experimental branch for early access to upcoming updates (Steam, Properties, Game Versions & Betas, "experimental"). Expect bugs.
