A spoiler-light guide to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: picking stances, what to spend skill points on first, how perks and exploration pay off, boss fundamentals, 100% completion, and PC performance advice.
Researched September 2026 — current as of Patch 9 (September 2024), the latest PC patch; the game is complete and no further updates have been announced. Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Quick Start
- You can equip two lightsaber stances at a time. There are five: Single, Double-bladed, Dual Wield, Blaster and Crossguard. Swap between your two equipped stances instantly in combat.
- Parry and block are the core of combat. Blocking drains your block meter; well-timed blocks (parries) stagger enemies and open them up. Learn the timing early.
- Red-glowing attacks are unblockable. Dodge or jump them, don't block.
- Meditation points are your checkpoints. Resting refills health, stims and Force but respawns enemies. They're also where you spend skill points.
- When you die, you drop your XP. Hit the enemy that killed you to get it back, like a soulslike.
- Explore. Chests, Force Essences and Jedi Chambers give permanent upgrades. Much of the best progression is off the critical path.
- Upgrade stims early. More stims means more healing per rest.
- Talk to people at Pyloon's Saloon. Recruiting characters to the hub unlocks shops, side content, bounties and the Holotactics minigame.
- Difficulty can be changed at any time. There are five options, from a story-focused setting up to a punishing top tier; the middle setting is the intended balance. Higher settings tighten parry windows and make enemies hit harder.
- Exploration continues after the credits, so you can finish collectibles later.
Stances
Stance | Style | Best against
Single | Balanced reach and damage, good block | Duels and all-round play
Double-bladed | Wide sweeps, fast | Groups of weaker enemies
Dual Wield | Very fast combos, weaker block | Single targets you can pressure
Blaster | Saber plus blaster pistol; ranged and close | Enemies at range, pressure at mid-range
Crossguard | Slow, heavy hits, long reach | Big enemies and bosses; punishing blocks
Recommended pairings:
Pairing | Why
Single + Double-bladed | Easiest; duels and crowds covered
Single + Crossguard | Great for bosses; slow but devastating
Dual Wield + Blaster | Aggressive and mobile
Double-bladed + Crossguard | Crowds plus heavy duels
Unlock each stance's upgrades in its skill tree once you commit to a pair.
Skills, Perks and Upgrades
Skill trees
There are skill trees for your lightsaber stances, for Force powers, and for survival. Earn skill points from XP and spend them at meditation points.
Early priorities:
- Survival tree: more healing from stims and better parry windows or damage reduction.
- Your main stance tree: key combo and block upgrades.
- Force tree: improvements to Push, Pull and Slow. Slow is especially strong against bosses.
Perks
Perks are passive bonuses equipped in perk slots at meditation points. You find them in chests or buy them from merchants. Perk slots increase as you find more upgrades. Build around your stances: for example, perks that reward parries if you play defensively, or ones that boost damage while aggressive.
Health, Force and stims
- Force Essences found in the world increase health or Force.
- Stim Canisters increase how many heals BD-1 carries.
- Jedi Chambers are puzzle dungeons that usually reward skill points or permanent upgrades.
- Force Tears are combat challenges that reward cosmetics or perks.
Currency
Priorite Shards are the main currency, traded with merchants in the Rambler's Reach hub. You find them in chests and exploring. Spend them on perks and useful items first, then cosmetics.
Planets and Hubs
Location | What to know
Coruscant | The opening. Linear introduction.
Koboh | The main open hub planet. Rambler's Reach Outpost and Pyloon's Saloon are here. Most side content, bounties and exploration.
Jedha | Desert world with wide exploration areas and mounts.
Shattered Moon | A story location built around industrial mining; home of the mining cannon (see "This Is Canon" achievement).
Nova Garon | A story location later on.
Tanalorr | A story destination central to the plot.
Return to Koboh often. As you recruit characters and gain new traversal abilities, more of the planet opens up.
Pyloon's Saloon
The saloon is your social hub. Recruit characters you meet and they move in, unlocking:
- Merchants and cosmetic shops.
- Bounty hunts posted in the saloon.
- Holotactics, a tabletop minigame (winning every match unlocks the "Gambler" achievement).
- The garden on the roof, where you can plant seeds you find (fill it for "Growth Spurt").
Combat Fundamentals
- Block drains; parry doesn't. Aim for parries. Most enemies have readable animations.
- Guard break. When an enemy's block meter empties, they're open to big combos. Heavy stances like Crossguard break guards fast.
- Force first against groups. Push enemies off ledges, Pull shielded enemies, and Slow tougher ones.
- Use companions. In some areas an ally joins you; direct them to assist in combat (the "You've Got A Friend" achievement needs this 10 times each).
- Scan everything with BD-1. It fills the Tactical Guide and gives enemy weaknesses and tips.
- Heal early in boss fights. Don't wait until one hit from death.
Boss tips
- Learn the pattern first. Your first attempt is reconnaissance. Watch which attacks are unblockable.
- Parry-heavy bosses: duelists (lightsaber users like Dagan Gera and Bode Akuna) reward precise parrying. Single or Crossguard work well.
- Big creature bosses: don't parry huge attacks; dodge and hit from the side. Double-bladed and Dual Wield give fast punishes.
- Rayvis: he is durable and hits hard; stay patient, dodge the red attacks, and punish his recovery rather than trading hits.
- Legendary adversaries are optional, tougher enemies scattered across planets. Defeat all of them for "I'm a Living Legend."
- Drop the difficulty if you're stuck. There's no penalty, and you can raise it again after.
Exploration and Collectibles
- Chests contain cosmetics, Priorite Shards and upgrades.
- Force Essences give health and Force; seek them out early.
- Jedi Chambers: find and complete all for "Star Tours."
- Force Tears: complete all for "Blood, Sweat, and Tears."
- Seeds for the rooftop garden.
- Scans and Databank entries fill in lore and the Tactical Guide.
Tips:
- Open the holomap often; it marks undiscovered chests and blocked paths you'll need new abilities for.
- New abilities later in the story open earlier areas; revisit Koboh especially.
- After the credits you can continue exploring and mopping up collectibles.

PC Performance
- Patch 9 (September 2024) was a PC-focused update: framerate improvements, fixes for hitching, better ray tracing CPU scaling, better mouse input performance, faster shader optimization using multiple CPU cores, and Denuvo DRM removal.
- Ray tracing is the most CPU-heavy option. If you're stuttering, turn it off first.
- Upscaling (check which upscalers your build offers in the graphics menu) helps GPU-bound systems.
- Let the "Optimizing Game Files" step finish on first launch; it reduces stutter later.
- Accessibility: Patch 8 added a high contrast mode, audio pings for echolocating interactables, and slow-motion presets at 30%, 50% and 75%.
- EA Play: the game is included with EA Play on Steam, so you can play without buying outright if you subscribe.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Blocking unblockables. Red flashes mean dodge.
- Resting at every meditation point. It respawns enemies. Rest when you need healing or to spend skill points.
- Ignoring stim upgrades. Healing capacity makes more difference than raw damage early on.
- Spreading skill points across all five stances. Commit to two first.
- Skipping the saloon. Recruiting characters unlocks shops and side content.
- Forgetting to go back for lost XP. Hit the enemy that killed you.
- Playing through heavy stutter. Update to the latest patch, finish shader optimization and turn off ray tracing.
Advanced Tips
- Crossguard for bosses. Heavy, slow strikes break guards fast; it pairs perfectly with a faster stance.
- Blaster stance and Precision Release. Charge shots and release them at the right time for extra damage.
- Use Slow on duelists. It opens bosses for long combos.
- Throw enemies at each other. Pull, Push and Slam can hit multiple foes and send them off cliffs.
- Build a parry-focused perk set if you're playing on the two hardest settings; perfect parries shorten fights dramatically.
- Explore Koboh again late. New abilities reveal shortcuts, chests and chambers you couldn't reach before.
FAQ
Do I need to play Jedi: Fallen Order first? It helps, since Survivor picks up five years later with the same crew, but the game recaps enough to play on its own.
Can I explore after finishing the story? Yes. You can continue exploring, finishing collectibles and achievements.
Is there New Game+? Yes. After finishing the story you can start New Game+, which carries your progression into a fresh run.
Does Jedi: Survivor still have Denuvo? No. Patch 9 removed Denuvo DRM on PC.
What's the best stance? There isn't one. Single + Double-bladed is easiest; Crossguard is the best boss stance for many players.
What difficulty should I play on? The middle of the five settings is the balanced, intended experience. Drop one or two steps if combat is frustrating, or go up for tighter parry windows and harder hits. You can change it at any time with no penalty.
