A practical guide to Krunker, the fast browser/client FPS: movement tech (slidehopping first), classes and loadouts, settings for high FPS, the economy, ranked play, and custom games.
Researched September 2026 — current as of the latest Krunker patch notes published on Steam (client 3.0.0, February 2022); newer in-game seasons are announced on krunker.io and weren't verifiable for this guide. Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Where to play: Krunker runs in the browser at krunker.io and through the official client, including the Steam version (developer/publisher listed as FRVR). The Steam client requires a Krunker account and supports Windows and Mac. The Steam news feed hasn't been updated since February 2022, so follow the in-game changelog for current season details.
Quick Start
- Learn to slidehop on day one. Jump while holding forward, then hold crouch as you land to slide, and repeat. It's the core of Krunker movement and works on every class.
- Strafe constantly. Pressing A/D while shooting makes you much harder to hit. Standing still is how you die in Krunker.
- Start with an easy-to-aim class. An automatic weapon (assault rifle, SMG or LMG) is more forgiving than sniper or revolver while you learn movement.
- Uncap your FPS and lower visual effects. Krunker is a browser-engine game; performance settings matter more than in most shooters (see Settings below).
- Pubs rotate through a set of 12 rotation maps. Learn a few power positions and routes on each; map knowledge beats aim in pubs.
- A "nuke" is 25 kills without dying. It's the classic flex — and you'll get more of them by holding strong positions than by roaming.
- Don't leave matches early. Leaving counts as a loss and a death on your stats.
- Custom games are half the game. Parkour, Infected, CTF and thousands of community modes are in the server browser — great for practicing movement.
Movement (the skill that matters most)
Technique | How | Notes
Strafing | Hold A or D while aiming | The base of dodging; combine with jumping
Slidehop | Jump holding W, hold crouch on landing to slide, jump again at the end of the slide | "Easy to learn, hard to master"; timing the next jump keeps speed
Walljump | Run into a wall, press against it, jump | Behavior has changed across updates; test it on a Parkour map with your class
Ramp slides | Slide down slopes to build speed | Maps have ramps placed for this; learn them
Rocket jumps | Rocketeer can boost with its launcher | Precise timing required
Practice routine:
- Load a Parkour custom game and slidehop through it until it feels automatic.
- Practice sliding around corners into a fight — a slide changes your hitbox and speed at the moment you peek.
- Mix jumps into strafes so you don't move in a predictable line.
Classes
Krunker's class sets your primary weapon and some movement/health traits, and each class levels separately (Double Class XP weekends run every other weekend, per the Season 5 update). The long-standing core roster is below (Triggerman's AK, Agent and Runner are named in the 2021 patch notes; the rest reflect the classic roster and weren't re-checked against the current in-game menu). The game has added, renamed and rebalanced classes over time, so check the class menu for current weapons and stats.
Class | Primary weapon | Good for
Triggerman | Assault rifle (AK) | Best all-rounder for beginners
Hunter | Sniper rifle | Quick-scoping; highest skill ceiling
Run N Gun | SMG | Aggressive movement
Spray N Pray | LMG | Holding angles with a big magazine
Vince | Shotgun | Close-quarters maps
Detective | Revolver | Precision duelling
Marksman | Semi-automatic rifle | Mid-range tap shooting
Rocketeer | Rocket launcher | Splash damage; rocket jumps
Agent | Dual SMGs | Close range; banned from competitive in 2021
Runner | Melee | Movement-focused; banned from competitive in 2021
Bowman | Crossbow | Projectile precision
Commando | Burst rifle | Mid-range bursts
Which to pick:
- New players: Triggerman or Spray N Pray — forgiving automatics.
- Aggressive movers: Run N Gun.
- Aim-focused players: Hunter (quick-scopes) or Detective.
- Competitive: check the current comp ban list; as of the 2021 patch notes Agent and Runner were removed from comp matches and the Alien Blaster weapon was banned.
Gunfight Fundamentals
Krunker's time-to-kill is short and everyone moves fast, so small habits decide most duels.
Habit | Why it wins fights
Reload behind cover, not mid-lane | Reloads are long enough to lose a duel; the 2021 patch notes even slowed the AK's reload
Pre-aim at head height around corners | Your crosshair should already be where an enemy will appear when you peek
Aim for the head with precision weapons | Sniper, revolver and semi-auto reward headshots far more than body shots
Swap to your secondary instead of reloading when a fight is close | It's usually faster than finishing a reload
Fight from the edge of your weapon's best range | Automatic weapons lose accuracy at long range; snipers struggle up close
Use height | Dropping onto enemies from above, or sliding off ramps into them, makes you harder to track
Reading the scoreboard: in pubs, the players at the top are usually holding a power position. Find where they're shooting from and either avoid that sightline or flank it, rather than peeking the same angle repeatedly.
Warm-up routine (10 minutes): a few minutes of slidehopping on a Parkour map, a few minutes in an FFA custom game with your main class, then queue. Movement first, aim second.
Maps and Modes
- Public matches cycle through 12 rotation maps. Since Season 5, the fourth map in a pub rotation is always a unique mode (for example a raid or party mode).
- Modes include Free for All, Team Deathmatch-style modes, Capture the Flag, Infected, Parkour and many custom modes made with the map editor and KrunkScript.
- Raids and events appear as official events (Season 5 added a raid event called Tortuga).
- Custom servers can be hosted from the server browser in a couple of clicks.
Map tips:
- Learn the high ground and long sightlines on each rotation map; snipers and LMGs control those.
- Learn where the ramps are — they're built for slide speed.
- On objective modes, movement lets you rotate faster than anyone who walks.
Settings for Performance and Clarity
These come from a popular community "Best Settings" guide. They're a starting point, not rules.
Setting | Suggested | Why
FPS cap | Uncapped (client) | Lower input latency
Particles, shadows, ambient shading, trails, muzzle flash, casings, impact holes | Off | Big FPS gains; less visual noise
Post-processing / lighting | Off | FPS
Resolution scale | Lower if your FPS is unstable | Browser engine is CPU-sensitive
Field of view | Around 110 | More awareness
Weapon bob | Low | Steadier view
Crosshair | Custom, high-contrast | Visibility
Screen shake | Off if flinch bothers you | Season 5 added a small damage flinch that can be disabled via screen shake
Master volume | Moderate, with gunfire and footsteps audible | Audio cues matter
Sensitivity: use the lowest sensitivity you can still turn around comfortably with. Krunker's pace tempts you to go high; lower sensitivity helps tracking.
Client extras: the official client supports resource packs (added in client 3.0.0) and a resource swapper for custom textures/sounds.
Economy and Progression
Item | What it is
KR | The main currency; buy with money or earn in-game, spend on spins, items and market trades
Junk | Added in Season 5; dissolve skins into Junk and spend it at the Junkyard to craft items
Materials | Can spawn around pub maps; used in crafting (dropping a nuke has a small chance to drop uranium)
Spins | Loot rolls for skins; odds vary by rarity
Market | Buy, sell and trade skins with other players
Challenges | Daily, map-specific and weapon-specific challenges with rewards
Badges | Profile badges from challenges and milestones
F2P tips:
- Do daily challenges — they're the steadiest free rewards.
- Don't gamble KR on spins if you want a specific skin; buying directly on the market is usually more reliable.
- Dissolve duplicates into Junk rather than letting them rot.
- Cosmetics don't affect gameplay; spend nothing until you know you'll stick around.
Ranked and Competitive
- Krunker has official ranked play and FACEIT integration (added to the client in November 2021).
- Competitive rules differ from pubs: some classes and weapons are banned (see above), so practice with comp-legal loadouts.
- Anti-cheat and moderation: the Krunker Police Department (KPD) handles reports; your trust score affects your ability to call KPD.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Walking. If you're not sliding or strafing, you're a free kill.
- Running Hunter before your movement is solid. Sniping in Krunker relies on repositioning.
- Leaving matches early. It records a loss and a death.
- High graphics settings. Dropped frames cost more gunfights than a lack of shadows ever will.
- Chasing a nuke by roaming. Hold a good position and let enemies come.
- Spending real money early. Cosmetics only.
Advanced Tips
- Slide-peek: slide around a corner instead of walking out; your speed and lowered hitbox win first shots.
- Jump-shot timing: test your main weapon's accuracy while moving and airborne in a private custom game, and learn when to land before firing.
- Quick-scoping (Hunter): the pub staple; practice scope-in flicks in an FFA or aim-training custom game before taking it into ranked.
- Sound whoring: footsteps and reloads give positions away — keep gun volume below footstep volume.
- Rotate between power positions after every couple of kills to avoid being pre-aimed.
- Use custom games to train: Parkour for movement, FFA for aim, and KrunkScript-made aim trainers where available.
