A guide to KLab's free-to-play BLEACH action game on Steam: team building, character growth (levels, Ascension, Soul Tree, Links), how summons and exchanges work, the current banners, spending Spirit Orbs wisely, and making progress in co-op, raids and PvP.

Researched September 2026 — current as of the late-September 2026 banners (Thousand-Year Blood War Glory Summons: Awe and The Calamity Tie-In Project Summons: Round 3, during the 11th Anniversary period). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.

Quick Start

  • Link your account. The Steam version shares an account with mobile, so you can play the same save on PC or phone.
  • Play the story first. Story quests are your main early source of Spirit Orbs, materials and XP.
  • Build a team of three. Your party is three characters. You control one at a time and can swap.
  • Don't pull on everything. Spirit Orbs are limited. Wait for banners with guarantees, step-ups and choose tickets.
  • Use exchanges. Every draw on most banners gives medals for that banner's exchange. Medals can buy characters and materials.
  • Invest in a few strong characters, not your whole roster. Materials are limited.
  • Link characters to boost your main team's stats.
  • Do co-op and raids for materials. They're efficient and social.
  • Check events and log in daily. Events hand out Spirit Orbs, tickets and materials.

Summons: How They Work (September 2026)

Spirit Orb costs on current banners: 25 Orbs for a x1 summon, 250 for a x10 summon.

Should You Pull? A Simple Rule Set

  • Tie-In Project banners are the best value. Medals from every step can be exchanged for the featured character, so even bad luck gets you the unit.
  • Step 10 choose tickets are strong if you're committed to at least ten steps.
  • Glory banners with lower rates are better for whales or players chasing a specific new unit.
  • Save orbs for anniversaries and collabs. Rates and guarantees are usually boosted.
  • Don't chase every Thousand-Year Blood War unit. Pick the ones that fit your team and content.

Characters and Team Building

Character characteristics

Every character has:

  • Attack type: Melee or ranged, normal or strong attack focus.
  • Strong attacks: Many have multiple strong attacks with unique effects.
  • Status ailments: Attacks can apply Burn, Freeze, Lacerate, Weaken, Dominate and others.
  • Killer traits: Bonus damage against a group, e.g., Quincy Killer+, Captain Killer+, Espada Killer+, Squad Zero Killer+.
  • Soul Traits: Innate bonuses such as extra strong attack damage or reduced recharge time.
  • EX Skills and Skills: Passive bonuses (Frenzy, Bombardment, Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost, and more).

Attributes

Characters belong to one of five attributes:

Attribute | Strong against | Weak against

Power | Technique | Speed

Technique | Speed | Power

Speed | Power | Technique

Heart | Mind | Mind

Mind | Heart | Heart

Power, Technique and Speed form a triangle; Heart and Mind are strong and weak against each other. Hitting an enemy whose attribute is weak to yours deals more damage, so check the quest's enemy attributes before a hard fight and bring the advantage.

Team composition tips

  • Match killers to enemies. Quincy Killer for Quincy-heavy quests, Espada Killer for Espada content, and so on.
  • Build around a status ailment. Many units deal bonus damage to enemies affected by a specific ailment (e.g., Frozen or Dominated). Pair an applier with a character that exploits it.
  • Mix melee and ranged so you can deal with different enemies safely.
  • Swap characters during fights to use special moves on cooldown.

Character Growth

System | What it does

Leveling | Characters earn XP in battle, raising base stats

Ascend | Increases max level; uses materials such as Rarity Keys

Soul Tree | Unlock nodes to boost specific stats and skills

Links | Attach other characters to boost your main character

Special Move level | Uses Special Move Sources (including Rainbow Special Move Sources) to boost specials

Priority for a new ★5:

  • Level it.
  • Ascend it.
  • Fill its Soul Tree.
  • Build Links.
  • Raise Special Move level as materials allow.

Game Modes

  • Story: Relive BLEACH from Rukia and Ichigo's first meeting, plus Brave Souls original content.
  • Co-op Quests: Team up with up to three others for PvE; great for materials.
  • Epic Raids: Big co-op boss fights.
  • PvP leagues: Weekly competitive play against other players' teams.
  • Events: Rotating events with rewards and special quests.

Your First Week: A Progression Plan

Days 1 to 2

  • Clear as much of the story as you can. Early chapters are quick and hand out Spirit Orbs and growth materials.
  • Collect all Gift Box rewards; x1 summon medals and event rewards land there too.
  • Pick one strong ★5 from your starting pulls as your main character and put everything into it.

Days 3 to 5

  • Start co-op quests for materials, and Epic Raids once your main team can survive them.
  • Begin filling the Soul Tree of your main character.
  • Link your best spare characters to your main team.

Days 6 to 7

  • Join PvP leagues if you enjoy competition; weekly rewards help.
  • Plan your next pull around a banner with a medal exchange or choose ticket.
  • Read the in-game notices for upcoming events so you don't waste orbs right before a strong banner.

Controls and Combat Tips

  • Strong attacks have recharge times and carry much of a character's kit (status effects, vortexes, traps), so use them as soon as they're ready.
  • Special moves are your burst damage. Many characters have triggered boosts or gauge effects that make their specials stronger after using a specific strong attack.
  • Dodge out of big enemy attacks; stagger ("poise break") skills let you interrupt tougher enemies.
  • Swap characters when your active character's key attacks are on cooldown, so you always have damage available.
  • Status ailments stack value: several new characters deal extra damage to targets already affected by an ailment (for example, bonus damage to Frozen or Dominated enemies).

Spirit Orbs and F2P Tips

  • Log in daily. Login bonuses and events add up.
  • Clear story and event missions for one-time orb rewards.
  • Do co-op and raids for materials to power up characters.
  • Spend orbs only on banners with guarantees or exchanges.
  • Pick a main team and invest deeply rather than spreading materials.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Pulling on every banner.
  • Spreading materials across too many characters.
  • Ignoring killer traits and status synergies.
  • Forgetting to spend medals before exchanges close.
  • Skipping Links, which provide significant stat boosts.
  • Not reading banner details; step guarantees vary.

Advanced Tips

  • Plan pulls around step guarantees and choose tickets.
  • Use exchanges strategically: prioritize characters first, then rare materials.
  • Adapt teams to content: raids and PvP need different builds.
  • Watch official YouTube previews of new characters before pulling.
  • Track banner end times in JST. Exchanges and events close on Japan time.
