Classes, gadgets, the current Season 4 content, meta weapons, vehicles, settings and squad tactics for Battlefield 6 multiplayer, plus notes on REDSEC.

Researched September 2026 — current as of Season 4: Tidal Strike (Game Update 1.4.3.0, September 15, 2026). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.

Quick Start

  • Pick a class for the job, not the gun. Your class decides your gadgets and team role. Assault takes objectives, Engineer handles vehicles, Support keeps the squad alive, Recon spots and scouts.
  • Signature weapons give bonuses. Each class has a weapon type it's best with (Assault rifles for Assault, SMGs for Engineer, LMGs for Support). You can often use other guns, but you lose the signature perks.
  • Play the objective. Capturing and defending flags or M-COMs earns far more XP than kills alone.
  • Revive squadmates. Any soldier can revive a downed squadmate (and drag them to cover first). Support revives faster and can revive anyone with the defibrillator.
  • Spawn on your squad. Squad spawns put you back in the fight without a long run.
  • Check your minimap constantly. Recon's Motion Sensor and spotted enemies show there.
  • Season 4 is naval-focused. Tsuru Reef and Wake Island reward boats, jets and helicopters. Learn to at least ride and repair.
  • Do the Deep Six event now. It started September 15, 2026 and awards weapon packages and the new Royal Navy Dive Knife (Diver's Knife). EA's sources disagree on the end date: the 1.4.3.0 patch notes say October 12, while the Season 4 event guide says September 29. Treat September 29 as your deadline and check the in-game timer.

Classes

Class | Signature gadget | Signature weapon | Signature trait | Role

Assault | Adrenaline Injector (sprint boost, reduced explosive damage, debuff protection, better footstep hearing) | Assault rifle (faster draw, sprint recovery) | Mission Focused: faster objective interaction and capture for nearby squad | Frontline, objective capture

Engineer | Repair Tool (blowtorch: repairs friendly vehicles, damages enemy ones) | SMG | Mechanized Infantry: less explosive damage near friendly vehicles, blocks enemies from entering them | Anti-vehicle, vehicle support

Support | Supply Bag (resupplies ammo and gadgets, helps health regen) | LMG (faster ADS transition, no sprint speed penalty) | Built around squad sustain; carries the Defibrillator for full revives | Healer, resupply, suppression

Recon | Motion Sensor (shows nearby moving enemies, vehicles, gadgets on the team minimap) | Sniper rifle | Auto-Spot: aiming at enemies spots them | Intel, long range, spotting

Training Paths

Every class has Training Paths: subclasses that give three unique abilities and push you toward a specific playstyle (for example, a more aggressive or more defensive version of the class). Swap paths depending on the map and mode. You pick one per loadout.

Which Class Should I Play?

If you want to... | Play

Win objectives, push points | Assault

Fight tanks, fly/drive, keep vehicles alive | Engineer

Help the team with minimal aim required | Support

Snipe, spot, flank | Recon

New players: Support gives lots of XP for revives and resupplies, and teaches you where fights happen.

Tsuru Reef and Wake Island

  • Tsuru Reef is a very large island-chain map built around boat and air play. Update 1.4.3.0 expanded its Breakthrough sectors with extra flanking routes and more boats.
  • Wake Island is the reworked classic, adapted to Battlefield 6's scale.
  • On both, the team that controls boats and air usually wins. If your team is losing the air war, switch to Engineer or grab AA.

Update 1.4.3.0 Key Changes

  • Interdictor: minimum damage 62 to 80; sweet spot damage 150 to 100 with the sweet spot range adjusted to 120-160 m; limb damage now matches chest. REDSEC armor damage is 100 at all distances.
  • Reticles: all optics redesigned for clearer visibility.
  • RCB90 Patrol Boat: health 800 to 1,000, better steering.
  • AH-6 Little Bird: minigun overheats about 33% faster; 50% less damage to RCB90s and ATPs.
  • AA launchers: SLM-93A and 9K38 Igla no longer show pilots a lock-on direction indicator.
  • Custom Lobbies now support Tactical Obliteration, Obliteration, Breakthrough, Escalation, Rush, Domination, Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch.
  • Proximity Chat: directional voice affected by walls and environment, up to four speakers heard at once, with mute/report/block options. Currently a test in Battle Royale.

Coming in Season 5 (Announced)

Reports have pointed to map reworks (New Sobek City, Blackwell Fields), a Server Browser, multiplayer leaderboards and Platoons for Season 5, but EA's Season 4 pages don't confirm them and no date is set. Treat these as unconfirmed until EA's Season 5 roadmap.

Game Modes

Mode | Summary

Conquest | Large-scale; hold flags to drain enemy tickets. Best for vehicles

Breakthrough | Attackers push sector by sector; defenders have limited tickets to stop them

Rush | Attackers arm/destroy M-COM stations; smaller scale

Escalation | Conquest variant where the number of flags shrinks over time

Domination / King of the Hill | Small infantry objective modes

Obliteration / Tactical Obliteration | Carry a bomb to enemy targets

Team / Squad Deathmatch | Pure infantry fights

Portal | Community-made and custom modes

REDSEC | Free-to-play battle royale and Gauntlet modes, set around Fort Lyndon

Meta Weapons (Season 4, mid-September 2026)

Community rankings shift with every patch, but these show up at the top across multiple sources:

Category | Strong picks | Why

Assault rifle | EF88, M16A4, M433, TR-7 | EF88 is the best Season 4 addition; TR-7 has fast TTK up close

Carbine | M4A1, SG 553R | Reliable all-rounders

SMG | CZ3A1, SGX, SCW-10 | CZ3A1: high fire rate, great hipfire, controllable recoil

LMG | DRS-IAR, KTS100 MK8, M123K | DRS-IAR has fast TTK and very low recoil

DMR | SVDM, VSSM | VSSM becomes strong with its full-auto attachment

Sniper | M2010 ESR, L115, Mini-Scout, Interdictor | Interdictor much more consistent after 1.4.3.0

The current meta rewards recoil control, upper-body accuracy and controlled fire over spraying. Pick guns with manageable recoil first, then chase TTK.

Loadout Tips

  • Build attachments for recoil control and ADS speed before damage range.
  • Try both an LPVO (like the new 1p86) and a red dot; LPVOs shine on the large Season 4 maps.
  • Recheck reticles after 1.4.3.0; the overhaul changed how several optics look.

Vehicles

Type | Notes

Tanks and IFVs | Drive with an Engineer nearby. Stay behind infantry; tanks die fast when isolated

Helicopters | Little Bird is now less effective vs boats and overheats faster

Jets | Top Gun phase added the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat. Practice in custom lobbies before ranked play

Boats | RCB-90 (tougher after 1.4.3.0) and RHIB. Key on Tsuru Reef and Wake Island

  • Engineers: keep your Repair Tool out when your driver is under fire. Your Mechanized Infantry trait reduces explosive damage near vehicles.
  • AA gadgets are stronger for ambushes now that pilots don't see lock-on direction.

Settings

  • Turn off motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration and vignette for visibility.
  • Field of view: higher FOV improves awareness; don't go so high that distant targets shrink too much.
  • Uniform soldier aiming keeps sensitivity consistent across zoom levels; turn it on and tune ADS sensitivity from there.
  • Audio: use a headset and a mix that emphasizes footsteps. With Proximity Chat live, set its volume in audio settings.
  • Hit and kill indicators: keep hit markers on; they help confirm damage at range.

Squad Play and Positioning

  • Play near your squad. Squad spawns and revives are your biggest advantage.
  • Use cover and lean. Peek, shoot, return to cover. Don't sprint across open ground.
  • Destruction is a weapon. Blow open walls to create new angles or remove enemy cover.
  • Spot enemies. Spotting feeds the whole team; Recon's Auto-Spot does this for free.
  • Pull downed allies to cover before reviving if the area is hot.
  • Resupply. Support: drop supply bags near choke points; everyone else: ask for ammo.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Chasing kills while the objective falls. Tickets win games.
  • Solo tanking. Without an Engineer or infantry screen, a tank is an easy kill.
  • Ignoring air on naval maps. Unanswered jets and helicopters lose games on Tsuru Reef and Wake Island.
  • Recon sniping from spawn. Get closer, spot, and deploy the Motion Sensor on the objective.
  • Never reviving. Squadmates are worth more alive than respawning.
  • Using attachment combos you haven't tested. The Interdictor and Little Bird changes in 1.4.3.0 mean some older setups are off.

Advanced Tips

  • Use Adrenaline Injector before pushing through explosives; it reduces explosive damage and helps you hear footsteps.
  • Stack Mission Focused: Assault squads cap faster together.
  • Engineers can deny vehicles: Mechanized Infantry blocks enemies from entering your team's vehicles.
  • Interdictor sweet spot: after 1.4.3.0 it's 120-160 m for 100 damage, so position at that range from key lanes.
  • Boats as spawn beacons: keep your team's RCB-90 alive on Tsuru Reef; it now has 1,000 health.
  • Proximity Chat: use it to bait enemies or coordinate quickly, but remember enemies hear you nearby.
