WEBFISHING: Complete Guide

A friendly guide to WEBFISHING: how fishing and upgrades work, how to make money efficiently, what the shops sell, how lobbies and moderation work after the 1.11 lobby rework, and the social toys that make the camp fun.

Researched September 2026 — current as of Patch 1.12 (1 January 2025), the most recent update; no new patches have been announced since. Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.

Quick Start

  1. It's a social hangout first. WEBFISHING is a relaxed multiplayer fishing game set in a small camp. You fish, earn money, customize your character and hang out with others in lobbies.
  2. Cast, wait, reel. Cast into water, wait for a bite, then play the reeling minigame to land the catch. Higher-tier fish are harder to reel.
  3. Upgrade your rod and bait first. Rod Power and bait upgrades are what let you catch bigger, rarer fish. Money spent here comes back quickly.
  4. Sell your catches for money. Money buys bait, upgrades, cosmetics, props and consumables.
  5. Fill your journal. Nearly 100 creatures are catchable, from tiny snails to big sharks. Journal completion rewards are now in the Frog's shop.
  6. Check the quest board for tasks that pay out.
  7. Watch for events. Meteor events (made easier to spot in patch 1.09) and other happenings can bring special rewards.
  8. Pick your lobby type carefully. Since 1.11 you can host Public, Unlisted or Private lobbies, set tags, and require manual approval to join.
  9. Turn off "Griefable" if you want peace. Added in patch 1.08, turning it off stops other players from punching or affecting you.

Fishing Basics

The loop

  1. Equip a rod and bait.
  2. Cast into water — different bodies of water hold different creatures.
  3. Wait for the bite.
  4. Play the reeling minigame. Bigger and rarer fish make it harder; better rods make it easier.
  5. Land the fish; it goes into your inventory and is logged in your journal.
  6. Sell, keep or show it off.

Where to fish

Rarity and size

Fish come in different sizes and six quality tiers. Quality multiplies the fish's base sell value, so a high-quality catch of a common fish can out-earn a rare one:

Quality Stars Sell multiplier
Normal none x1
Shining 1 x1.8
Glistening 2 x4
Opulent 3 x6
Radiant 4 x10
Alpha 5 x15

Better bait is what raises your quality odds (see below). Values are from the community wiki; if the game has changed, trust the in-game tooltip.

Gear and Upgrades

Rods

Rods are the main progression. Upgrading Rod Power makes the reeling minigame easier on stronger fish. Patch 1.11 increased the maximum number of Rod Power upgrades.

Special rods added over time include the Traveler's Rod and the Prosperous Rod (added in 1.09).

Bait

Bait determines what can bite. Better bait means rarer catches and better quality odds. You unlock higher tiers as your camp tier rises; patch 1.11 added the new final bait type, Gilded Worms. Bait Capacity upgrades let you carry more at once, and 1.11 raised the maximum capacity upgrades too.

Bait Camp tier Unlock cost Notes
Worm Start Free Only catches tier 1–2 fish
Cricket 1 $100 Can catch every tier of fish
Leech 1 $400 Better quality odds
Minnow 2 $1,250 Better again
Squid 2 $8,500 Rarer quality potential
Nautilus 3 $15,000 Even rarer qualities
Gilded Worm 3 $35,000 Best quality odds; the final bait

Costs are the community wiki's figures. The practical takeaway: get off Worms immediately (Crickets are cheap and open the whole fish list), then save for each jump.

The Portable Bait Station (a consumable from the Frog's shop, added in 1.09) lets you restock bait away from the station.

Lures

Lures add special effects to your cast. For example, the Shower Lure (1.09) has a small chance to spawn a tiny raincloud above you, which lets you catch rain fish. The main lures, per the community wiki:

Lure Camp tier Effect
Fly Hook 1 Favors smaller fish
Lucky Hook 1 Small cash bonus on each catch
Challenge Lure 1 Click popups during the reel for extra cash
Patient Lure 1 Fish wait for your input before reeling starts
Quick Jig 2 Boosts rod power and reel speed
Salty Lure / Fresh Lure 2 Catch saltwater / freshwater fish anywhere
Efficient Lure 2 Chance not to use bait
Magnet Lure 2 More junk and treasure
Large Lure 3 Bigger fish, uses more bait
Attractive Angler 3 Higher catch chance
Sparkling Lure 3 More high-tier fish, uses more bait
Double Hook 3 Chance to duplicate a catch, uses more bait
Shower Lure 3 Chance of a raincloud for rain fish
Golden Hook 4 Much higher rare-fish rate, but triple bait use

Efficient Lure is a strong all-rounder for money runs; Salty/Fresh let you journal-hunt without walking between water types; Golden Hook is an end-game option once bait money is no longer a concern.

Upgrade order

  1. Early bait and rod upgrades — they unlock most of the fish list.
  2. Bait Capacity so you're not constantly restocking.
  3. Rod Power toward the cap for big catches.
  4. Higher bait tiers up to Gilded Worms for end-game fish.
  5. Lures and consumables for fun and specific goals.

Shops and Items

Shop What it sells (confirmed in patch notes)

Opossum's shop Hand Labeler (rename any item or fish)

Money Making

Toys and Social Features

WEBFISHING is built around hanging out. The social toys:

Toy What it does
Guitar Play real chords; since 1.11 it has 6 pages of 9 chord shapes and an instrument volume slider
Chalk Draw on the ground (can be disabled in options)
Boombox Play music (follows the Music audio slider)
Punch Punch friends — unless they've turned Griefable off
Props Place items like the greenscreen for photos
Letters/mailbox Send letters; the mailbox can be closed in options
Freecam Take screenshots; range increased in 1.09

Lobbies, Hosting and Safety

Patch 1.11 reworked multiplayer:

Patch 1.12 added a count of players queued to join, a Hide Full filter, a desync fix, and stopped players who tried to join full games from being silently banned.

Options Worth Knowing

Patch 1.09 added Toggle Sprint, Disable Chalk, Chat Filtering, Catch Jingle, Autoclick, Alternate Font and Close Mailbox. Autoclick and Toggle Sprint are big comfort improvements for long sessions. Later patches added resizable windows, a resolution confirmation screen and borderless tweaks.

Secrets

Patch 1.09 teased a hidden addition described only as "the ???????? which is accessed through the ???? ?????? and ??? ????????." The developer deliberately left it vague — explore and experiment, and ask friends in lobbies. Fish puns are also mandatory.
