Trove: Beginner-to-Endgame Guide
How to level classes, raise Power Rank, climb Uber difficulties, and spend currencies in Trove, gamigo's free-to-play voxel action MMO, including the systems added in 2026.
Researched September 2026 — current as of "Trove: Rematch" (Battle Mode, live on PC September 22, 2026) and "Tiny Quests" (August 2026). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Quick Start
- Try classes freely, but commit to one first. There are 18 classes. Level one to the cap (30) before spreading out, because gear and Power Rank carry more than class level.
- Power Rank (PR) is your real level. It's built from gear, gems, allies, dragons, and more. PR decides which Uber difficulty you can handle.
- Portals in the Hub lead to adventure worlds. Stick to the difficulty your PR supports. Going too high means dying constantly and getting nothing.
- Dungeons give the loot. Clear the large dungeons in each biome for gear, Flux, and progression items.
- Unlock things for Mastery. Every new mount, style, ally, class level, and so on adds Mastery, which gives permanent bonuses. Collecting counts as progression.
- Join a Club. Clubs have their own worlds, many players run their own "farm clubs", and chat is where you'll learn event routes.
- Do the daily bonuses. Each day of the week boosts a different activity. The Bonus Bonanza weekends turn all of them on at once.
- Don't spend Credits on random boxes early. Put premium currency toward permanent upgrades or classes first (see Economy).

Beginner-friendly picks: Knight (sturdy, simple), Gunslinger (safe ranged damage), and Dracolyte (strong area damage) are commonly recommended starters. Support classes like Bard and Vanguardian shine in group endgame content, but they're slower to level solo.
Physical vs magic: Your weapon type (sword, bow, pistol, staff, fist, spear) determines your damage type. Match your gear and gem stats to your class's damage type.
Core Progression
Class level
- The class level cap is 30 (it was raised from 20 in the Mantle of Power expansion).
- Gear with the right stats can raise your effective class level past 30.
- Leveling a class also adds Mastery.
Power Rank
PR combines your equipment, gems, allies, dragons, and other bonuses. Increase it by:
- Upgrading equipment tiers (Radiant, then Stellar, then Crystal, and later tiers such as Mystic Gear from the Rising Tides update). Upgrade costs for Resplendent/Shadow/Radiant/Stellar were reduced in past patches, so older tiers are cheap now.
- Gems: Socket and level gems. Cosmic Gems exist, and gems can't break. Use the Gem Forge to augment and reroll stats.
- Dragons: Each dragon adds stats. Collect them from egg fragments or craft them at the Dragon Crucible.
- Allies, mounts, and Mag Riders that grant stats.
Uber difficulties
Adventure worlds come in rising difficulty tiers called Uber levels. Since the Rising Tides update, the top tier is Uber-12 in the Long Shade, which also brought Mystic Gear as the newest gear tier. Higher Uber levels drop better resources but hit much harder.
Rule of thumb: if normal enemies take several seconds to kill and you're dying to packs, drop one Uber level. Clearing faster at a lower tier usually earns more per hour.
Mastery
- Trove Mastery comes from unlocking recipes, styles, mounts, allies, pets, Mag Riders, costumes, and class/profession levels.
- Each Mastery level adds a small permanent bonus, and Mastery keeps rewarding you at high ranks.
- Geode Mastery is a separate track from the Geode expansion, earned by collecting Geode items and progressing crystallogy.
Delves
Delves are procedurally generated cave systems where you jump, dive, and jetpack through floors. They come in Public, Private, and Challenge versions. Deeper floors drop the rarer upgrade materials and better weekly rewards. Rising Tides also added a new delve biome, The Depths.
Economy & Currencies
| Currency |
What it's for |
| Flux |
The main crafting and trading currency, needed for upgrades and Market trades. |
| Cubits |
Earned through play. Buys items and inventory slots. |
| Credits |
Premium currency. |
| Adventurine |
Earned while adventuring; check the in-game currency tooltip for what it buys. |
| Clubits |
Club currency, used for club fixtures and upgrades. |
| Dragon Coins |
Buy dragon souls and special items. |
| Chaos Chests / Chaos Cores |
Chests drop while adventuring. Cores unlock classes and costumes. |
| Battle Coins |
New in Trove: Rematch (2026). Spent at the Battle Bench. |
Spending priorities for new players:
- Unlock the classes you actually want to play (Chaos Cores or purchase).
- Buy inventory space, since Trove fills bags fast.
- Buy gear-upgrade materials before cosmetics.
- Cosmetics and mounts last, though they do add Mastery.
What's New in 2026
- Trove: Rematch (Battle Mode), live September 22, 2026 (on the PTS from August 27): PvP returns through a Hub portal with four modes: Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, and Bomber Royale. It has rebuilt matchmaking and PvP scaling, new leaderboards (victories, eliminations, flag captures), Battle Coins to spend at the Battle Bench, a Battle Mode Bounty Box for your first public match each day, and a Battle Mode Winner's Crate for your first win each day.
- Tiny Quests, live since August 2026: Send your Allies on offline expeditions ("Tadpole Tours"). Build Tiny Squads, match Allies and items to each mission's tags for synergy bonuses, and your Allies gain experience and level up. Queue quests before you log off.
- Rematch also added diminishing returns on stuns and slows, updated PvP stat scaling to narrow the gear gap, and refreshed PvP maps.
- Recurring events in 2026 so far: Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse), Bunfest, Spring Fling, Sunfest (Trove's 11th birthday, until July 21), Elysian Initiation (until August 18), Books and Hooks (September 1–8, fishing with Soggy Homework for 8 new event fish), and Healthy Food vs Junk Food (September 8–22). Events usually return yearly with an event currency and craftable rewards.
Building: Cornerstones and Club Worlds
- Your Cornerstone is a personal home you build block by block, and it's mobile. Place it on the marked plots in any world you visit and your build appears there, with your crafting benches ready to use. Put your most-used benches in it so you can craft mid-adventure.
- Club Worlds are shared building worlds you make with friends. Many clubs are built as farms or event hubs, so joining an active one gives you quick access to benches, portals, and resources.
- Building contests run regularly through the official Discord, with Credits as prizes (for example, the Maritime Mansion contest running until October 5, 2026).
- Player-made content: Trove's weapons, costumes, mounts, dungeons, and lairs are largely community-designed and submitted through the game's creation program.
Battle Mode (Rematch) Tips
- Reach it from the PvP area in the Hub portal or through the navigation menu.
- Grab the two daily rewards: the Bounty Box for your first public match and the Winner's Crate for your first win. That's free loot even if you only play a match or two a day.
- Gear matters less than before. Rematch rescaled PvP stats to narrow the gap, so class kit and positioning decide more fights.
- Crowd control has diminishing returns now, so chaining stuns and slows on one target gets weaker the more you stack.
- Spend Battle Coins at the Battle Bench on its new recipes, and check the leaderboards for banner rewards.
Leveling Route (New Character)
- Levels 1–10: Follow the tutorial and questline, then clear starter-biome adventure worlds. Smash every dungeon you see.
- Levels 10–20: Move up through the Hub portals as your gear improves. Equip any upgrade.
- Levels 20–30: Clear higher-tier worlds and join a club run or public group. Use the day's bonus (for example, the XP day) to speed things up.
- At 30: Start on gear tiers, gems, and dragons to push PR. Then climb Uber levels one at a time.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Jumping to high Uber too early. You'll die, you'll get nothing, and your loot rate goes down.
- Mixing physical and magic stats. Check your class's damage type before you socket gems or roll gear.
- Spending Flux carelessly. It's the gate on nearly every upgrade.
- Ignoring Mastery. Cheap unlocks (styles, mounts, allies) add up to permanent power.
- Skipping Tiny Quests. It's free progress for your Allies while you're offline.
- Playing alone. A good club speeds up everything, from farming to events.
Advanced Tips
- Stack daily bonuses with your plan. Farm the activity that's boosted today.
- Use Bonus Bonanza and Prime Time weekends (PC) for the heavy farming.
- Push Delve depth with a group once you're ready. The deeper weekly rewards are worth it.
- Reroll gems at the Gem Forge only after the gem is leveled high enough to be a keeper.
- Rematch PvP is a new source of daily crates. Do your first public match each day for the Bounty Box, even if you don't care about PvP.
