STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order: Walkthrough & Tips

A guide to Cal Kestis's journey: how the Soulslike-lite combat works, what to put skill points into, the planet order and Force abilities, bosses, collectibles and missables, and post-game content.

Researched September 2026 — current as of the final PC version (post-2020 free update with New Journey+ and Meditation Training; no patches since). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.

Status in 2026

Fallen Order is finished. Its free update on May 4, 2020 added New Journey+, the Meditation Training arena with its Battle Grid combat challenges, and new cosmetics, and the sequel STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor (2023) continues Cal's story five years later. On PC the game is on Steam, the EA app and through EA Play (members get unlimited access).

Quick Start

  1. Parry, don't just attack. Blocking drains your block meter; a well-timed block (a parry) staggers enemies. Learning parry timing is the whole game.
  2. Meditation points are checkpoints. Resting refills health and stims, spends skill points and respawns all enemies (except bosses).
  3. Dying costs your unspent XP. When you die, you lose the XP toward your next skill point. Hit the enemy that killed you to get it back (and full health and Force).
  4. Stims heal. BD-1 dispenses them in combat and they refill at meditation points. Find stim canisters out in the world to carry more.
  5. Unlock Force abilities in story order. Areas open up as you gain new powers. Come back later for locked chests and secrets.
  6. Use the holomap. It color-codes paths you can't pass yet versus ones you can, and shows how many secrets and chests remain per area. Check the in-map legend. It's the best tool in the game.
  7. Pick a difficulty that's fun. Jedi Knight is the default. You can change it any time.
  8. Scan things with BD-1. Scans give lore and sometimes XP.
  9. Use Force Slow on dangerous enemies. It's the first Force ability and the most useful for learning.
  10. Take shortcuts. Many areas loop back to meditation points with shortcuts you open from the other side.

Difficulty Modes

Mode Parry window Enemy damage and aggression
Story Mode Most generous Lowest
Jedi Knight Generous Normal
Jedi Master Tighter Higher
Jedi Grand Master Tightest Highest

The game says difficulty mainly changes enemy aggression, parry timing, and how much damage you take. Achievements don't depend on difficulty.

Planets in Story Order

  1. Bracca — the prologue in a shipbreaking yard. Cal is discovered by the Inquisitors.
  2. Bogano — the ancient Zeffo Vault, where Cal meets BD-1.
  3. Zeffo — the Zeffo homeworld. Tombs and puzzles.
  4. Kashyyyk — Wookiee resistance against the Empire.
  5. Dathomir — Nightsister magic and dark-side corruption.
  6. Ilum — a Jedi temple where Cal rebuilds his lightsaber.
  7. Nur — the Fortress Inquisitorius on Mustafar's moon.

You'll return to several planets more than once. Later returns use new abilities to reach earlier locked areas.

PC Settings and Accessibility

Setting Recommendation
Difficulty Change any time from the menu. Achievements don't depend on it
Controller Highly recommended. The combat is designed around a gamepad
Motion blur and film grain Turn off for clarity
Frame rate Higher frame rates make parry timing feel more consistent

Force Abilities and Traversal

Cal regains abilities through the story. In roughly the order you'll use them:

Ability Use
Force Slow Slows an enemy or object. Great for dangerous enemies and puzzles
Wall Run Run along marked walls
Force Push Knock enemies back and break walls
Double Jump Reach higher ledges
Force Pull Pull enemies and objects
Climbing claw / Rope / Zipline (BD-1) Climb surfaces, swing, and ride ziplines
BD-1 slicing and hacking Open doors, reprogram droids, overload power

BD-1 upgrades (found in the story and at workbenches) let him heal you (stim), slice locks, and more.

Combat

The basics:

Enemy types:

Enemy How to beat them
Stormtroopers Deflect blaster bolts back with a timed block
Purge Troopers Parry and punish. Heavier variants hit hard
Wildlife Learn their attack pattern and dodge
Nightsisters and Nightbrothers Use Force Push and Slow
Inquisitors Parry-heavy duels

Skill Tree

There are three skill trees: Survival, Force and Lightsaber. You earn skill points from XP. Spend them at meditation points.

Early priorities:

  1. Survival: skills that make healing, blocking and your resource pools more forgiving.
  2. Lightsaber: a lunge attack and extra block/parry options.
  3. Force: stronger Push and Pull, longer Slow.

Later: double-blade and advanced combat skills.

Bosses and Mini-bosses

Boss Location Notes
Second Sister (Trilla Suduri) Revealed on Zeffo, confronts Cal at the Bogano Vault; final duel on Nur Aggressive lightsaber duels. Parry and punish
Ninth Sister Kashyyyk (the Origin Tree) Big, heavy attacks. Stay close
Taron Malicos Dathomir Fast and aggressive; Merrin helps in the fight. Use Force Slow
Oggdo Bogdo Bogano (optional legendary beast) A tough giant frog. Dodge its tongue and jumps
Gorgara Zeffo A giant flying creature; keep moving and punish when it lands
Darth Vader Nur (final) A scripted escape sequence rather than a winnable duel

Legendary beasts are optional bosses scattered across planets. They drop cosmetics and give XP.

Collectibles and Missables

Lightsaber customization: after Ilum, you can change your blade color at workbenches.
