Resident Evil Revelations 2: Complete Guide

This guide covers the four-episode campaign (Claire/Moira and Barry/Natalia), partner mechanics, the ending choice, the extra modes, Raid Mode, and how to clear the achievements efficiently on PC.

Researched September 2026. Current as of PC patch 5.00 (June 2015), the last content patch. The game is finished and no longer gets updates; if something here differs, check the linked sources.

Quick Start

  1. Every episode comes in two halves. You play Claire and Moira first, then Barry and Natalia. Barry's half happens six months later on the same island, and what Claire does can change what Barry finds.
  2. Only two of the four characters use guns. Claire and Barry shoot. Moira (flashlight and crowbar) and Natalia (bricks and her enemy-sensing ability) are support characters. In single player you swap between them to solve puzzles and find items.
  3. Use the support characters to find hidden items. Moira's flashlight and Natalia's pointing both reveal hidden pickups that the gun users can't see. Swap to them in every new room. Most of your spare ammo and crafting materials come from these hidden spots.
  4. Spend BP on skills between episodes. Battle Points (BP) come from kills and exploration and pay for skills that carry forward. Buy ammo capacity, evasion and stealth upgrades before damage.
  5. Stealth saves ammo. Crouch and sneak up behind enemies for a stealth attack, especially as Barry. Natalia can sense enemies before they see you, so use her to plan a route.
  6. The ending hangs on one moment in Episode 3 (see "The Ending Choice" below). Don't go into Claire's Episode 3 finale blind.
  7. Knock enemies down, then follow up. Moira's flashlight stun sets up a follow-up physical attack from Claire. It's safe damage, and it's also an achievement ("Now That's Teamwork!").
  8. Play Raid Mode between episodes. It's a separate loot-and-level mode with its own progression, and it's a good way to learn enemy patterns.
  9. Campaign co-op is local split screen on PC. Raid Mode has online co-op. Campaign online co-op was never added to the PC version.

The Structure: Episodes and Characters

Episode Title Notable moments
1 Penal Colony Claire and Moira escape the detention center; Barry lands on the island and meets Natalia
2 Contemplation Claire's half ends with the Mutant Pedro fight
3 Judgment Claire's half ends with the confrontation with Neil (decides the ending)
4 Metamorphosis Finale; Barry and Natalia take on Alex Wesker
Bonus The Struggle Moira's six months on the island with Evgeny Rebic
Bonus Little Miss Natalia searches for her teddy bear while avoiding monsters

The episode titles are references to Kafka, and the story leans on that theme of transformation. Each episode's Claire half and Barry half cover the same locations from different angles. If you see a sealed door or an odd item as Claire, Barry will often be the one who opens it months later.

Character roles

Character Role Strengths
Claire Redfield Gunner Full weapon loadout, dodge, stealth attacks
Moira Burton Support Flashlight stuns enemies and reveals hidden items; crowbar melee and prying
Barry Burton Gunner Heaviest firepower; strongest stealth takedowns
Natalia Korda Support Senses enemies through walls, points out hidden items, throws bricks, fits through small gaps

In solo play the AI controls whoever you aren't using, but it won't collect hidden items for you. You have to swap in and do it yourself.

Enemies You Need to Know

Combat and Resource Management

Ammo economy

On Normal and above, ammo is tight. The main rules:

Crafting

You craft healing items and throwables from gathered materials. Bottles thrown into groups are strong: the "Fish in a Barrel" achievement asks you to kill five enemies with one exploding bottle or firebomb bottle, which shows how much crowd damage they do. Save them for rooms where enemies bunch up at doorways.

Weapon customization

Weapon parts found during the campaign attach to your guns at workbenches. Put reload speed and capacity parts on your main gun first. Damage parts matter more once you move up in difficulty.

Skills and BP

BP buys skills in the between-episode menu. Skills persist, so replaying earlier episodes to farm BP is a normal part of the game. The "Bounty Hunter" achievement tracks 50,000 total BP. Rough priorities:

  1. Survivability and evasion for the gunners
  2. Stealth-related skills for Barry
  3. Stun and find-item improvements for Moira and Natalia
  4. Damage last

The Ending Choice (Spoiler-Light)

The game has two endings. Wikipedia describes them as:

The ending is decided in the final confrontation of Claire's Episode 3, when Neil attacks. When the moment comes, have Moira take Neil down. The Steam achievement "Here's My Resignation" is literally "Moira defeats Neil in Claire's Episode Three." If you get that achievement, you're on track for the good ending.

If you missed it, you can replay Episode 3 from the episode select and play Episode 4 again afterward.

Extra Modes

After you clear episodes, two challenge modes unlock. Each has per-episode achievements:

Mode What changes Tips
Countdown Mode A timer runs, and killing enemies adds time Take efficient kills, don't sneak around, and learn routes first
Invisible Mode Enemies are invisible Use sound, Natalia's sense and Moira's light; hard on first clear

There are also higher difficulties above Normal. Raise difficulty only after you've built up skills through BP, because skills carry across runs.

Raid Mode

Raid Mode is a separate loot-driven action mode, and it's where many people spend most of their hours:

Raid tips:

Collectibles, Medals and Missables

Each episode has a medal set (challenge conditions), and getting all medals in each episode is its own achievement. Other things that are easy to miss:

Achievement Condition Notes
Who Needs Fire? Escape the detention center in Claire's Episode 1 without using the flame-thrower bust Watch for the puzzle and find the alternative
A Ripple in Time Get the item beyond the sewer gate in Barry's Episode 3 Easy to walk past, so explore the sewers carefully
Routes of Future Past Complete both routes through the landfill in Barry's Episode 4 Needs two playthroughs of that section
What You Can't See Can Kill You Defeat six or more Glasps at the monument in Claire's Episode 4, Normal or higher Target them with Moira's light
Cutting Edge Clear Episode 1 using only the knife Easiest after you've bought skills
Here's My Resignation Moira defeats Neil in Claire's Episode 3 Also the good-ending condition

Cumulative achievements (100 Afflicted, 100 Revenants, 20 Glasps, 30 Revenant weapon arms, 30 Afflicted shot mid-jump, 50 flashlight stuns, 50 crowbar kills, 20 brick kills with Natalia, 50 follow-ups, 50 physical-attack kills, 100 knife kills, 20 stealth kills, 10 partner rescues) come naturally over several runs. Don't grind them early. "Line 'Em Up!" (two enemies with one shot) is easiest in a narrow corridor where enemies approach in single file.

FAQ

How many episodes are there? Four main episodes (Penal Colony, Contemplation, Judgment, Metamorphosis), each with a Claire half and a Barry half, plus two bonus episodes, The Struggle and Little Miss.

How do I get the good ending? Make sure Moira is the one who defeats Neil at the end of Claire's Episode 3. The "Here's My Resignation" achievement confirms it. If you missed it, replay Episode 3, then Episode 4.

Can I play the campaign online co-op on PC? No. The PC campaign supports local split-screen co-op. Raid Mode supports online co-op.

Do I need the Complete Season to play everything? The Complete Season / full bundle gives you all four episodes. The bonus episodes and extra Raid content were sold as DLC, so check that your edition includes them.

What unlocks after beating the game? Countdown Mode and Invisible Mode, higher difficulties, and more Raid Mode content. Skills and BP carry over.

Is Raid Mode worth playing? Yes. Many players consider it the best part of the game. It's a long loot-and-level mode with around 200 missions and plenty of series characters.

Is the game still getting patches? No. Patch 5.00 (June 9, 2015) was the last content update, and the only notice since is the 2022 Windows 7 support change.
