# Last Oasis: Survival Guide (Season 6)

A practical survival guide for Last Oasis in Season 6: how the season and map rotation work, your first hours as a new nomad, walkers and how to protect them, creatures and threats, economy, clans, and what changed in the Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 updates.

*Researched September 2026 — current as of Season 6 (Chapter 2 live since 8 May 2026; Chapter 3 announced 4 July 2026 with a July target). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.*

> Status note: Last Oasis is still in Early Access. Season 6 launched in March 2026 with a new chapter structure (roughly eight-week chapters with full wipes). On 4 July 2026 the developers announced Chapter 3, a server migration to Nitrado's GameFabric system, and a PTR before release. No later Steam post was published as of this writing, so check the Steam news page to confirm whether Chapter 3 is live on your servers.

## Quick Start

1. **Everything is temporary.** Chapters end with full wipes, and maps (tiles) burn on a schedule. Play for the season, not forever.
2. **Your walker is your home.** Walkers are wind-powered wooden machines used for travel, hauling, harvesting and combat. Losing one hurts more than dying.
3. **Follow the tutorial path at first.** Season 6 patches reordered the tutorial so Spider walker crafting happens sooner. Follow it.
4. **Gather basics constantly**: fiber, wood and stone are the backbone of every early recipe.
5. **Water matters.** The store page lists finding a water source among your first survival tasks; keep one in reach.
6. **Learn to use the grappling hook.** It is your mobility, your way to board walkers and your escape route.
7. **Avoid rupu camps and big creatures until geared.** Rupu are armed and organized now, and some creatures will wreck a new player.
8. **Join a clan or a friendly group** if you can. Solo is viable, but groups progress much faster and protect walkers better.
9. **Read the weekly schedule.** The map and event rotation decides where resources and fights happen each week.

## How a Season Works

Season 6 is split into chapters. Chapter 2 launched on **8 May 2026** with a full wipe and this weekly structure:

| Week | Map or event |
|---|---|
| 1 | Canyons |
| 2 | Ancient Cities Event |
| 3 | Volcanyon and Sleeping Giants Event |
| 4 | Kali Spires and Volcano Event |
| 5 | Asteroid Event |
| 6 | Worm Event |

Key ideas:

- **Tiles burn.** Maps are cleared on a schedule to keep population and clutter under control. Do not over-invest in a base on a tile that is about to burn.
- **Event tiles** were introduced in March 2026 as the center of progression. In Chapter 1 and 2, resources and creatures on event tiles could spawn with higher quality.
- **Server regions**: the April 2026 PTR ran EU and NA-West servers, and Chapter 2 moved regional prime times (EU, NAE, SA) later.

### Chapter 3 Changes (Announced July 2026)

The 4 July 2026 post outlined the two biggest changes:

- **Quality is being removed.** The quality system caused many issues, so Chapter 3 removes it until the base game is more stable.
- **Walker Mount replaces quality for walker upgrades.** The Ancient Crafting Site will spawn on event tiles, and there you craft a new resource called Walker Mount, used in place of quality for walker upgrades.
- **Progression and map lifetimes**: Canyon and Cradle maps burn roughly every two weeks for server maintenance, while Sleeping Giants, Volcano and Kali Spires become long-term event maps that last several days, aimed at reducing the feeling of being stuck.
- **Server migration** to Nitrado's GameFabric, which the team said might help performance in some cases.

If you read older guides that talk about quality-based walker upgrades, that advice will not apply once Chapter 3 is live.

## Your First Hours

1. **Harvest by hand**: fiber from plants, wood from trees, stone from rocks. Craft your first tools right away.
2. **Follow the tutorial** into your first walker. Walkers are the core of the game.
3. **Build basic storage and a campfire.** A later patch added Rupu Gel as a campfire fuel and increased the burn time of Wooden Slabs.
4. **Level up and spend tech points.** Progression unlocks recipes for better tools, armor, walkers and walker parts.
5. **Upgrade clothing.** Fiber gloves, rupu fiber gloves and triple stitch boots were rebalanced in March 2026 to better match progression.
6. **Move with the rotation.** When the week changes, the richest opportunities move with it.

## Walkers

Walkers range from small scouts to huge siege engines. Names seen in Season 6 patch notes include:

| Walker | Notes |
|---|---|
| Dinghy | Small early walker; your first taste of wind travel |
| Hornet | Light walker |
| Stiletto, Falco, Buffalo, Mollusk, Balang, Silur, Nomad, Camelop | Other walkers referenced in Season 6 notes; roles range from fast raiders to heavy haulers, so check each recipe's stats in-game |
| Cobra | Mentioned in PTR fixes alongside the Proxy |
| Proxy Walker | Crafted through Ancient City progression; claim duration extended to 48 hours in Chapter 2 |
| Tobo (Toboggan) | Chapter 2 widened its deck collision for easier edge placement |

T3 walker rigs were rebalanced in Chapter 2 for handling and weight distribution.

### Protecting Your Walker

- **Repair legs and wings quickly.** Chapter 2 reworked rebuilds: wings and legs have independent three-minute timers, and replacement HP scales with hull integrity (full hull gives full replacement HP, 75 percent hull gives half, and at 50 percent hull wings and legs cannot be replaced until the hull is fully repaired).
- **Park smart.** Structures decay if not maintained. Decay now deals 2 to 4 percent of structure HP rather than flat damage, with a 15-minute grace period.
- **Watch obsidian.** Patches fixed obsidian rocks dealing unintended collision damage to walkers and eruptions creating infinite obsidian rocks, but volcanic tiles are still hazardous.
- **Do not leave cargo unattended** on tiles where pirates and clans roam.

## Weapons and Combat

- **Melee** uses directional attacks; learning to read and block directions matters a lot in PvP.
- **Ranged personal weapons** such as the slingshot are useful early.
- **Walker weapons** include ballistas (including gunpod ballistas, whose fire rate was reduced to match the standard ballista), scattershots, catapults and spider ballistas.
- **Grappling hooks** were rebalanced in March 2026; the Flotillan grapple now needs chitin in its recipe.
- **Boarding**: grapple onto an enemy walker, clear the deck and take the controls or wreck the legs.

## Creatures and Threats

| Threat | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Rupu | Armed tribespeople with camps; now use Flotillan-style weapons and turrets. Chapter 2 toned down rupu turrets and increased their activation timer to 10 minutes |
| Papak | Aggro and vision range were reduced in March 2026 |
| Nurr | Found around Nurr Lair camps |
| The Long Ones (sandworms) | Massive worms; the Worm Event week is built around them |
| Other players | Pirates, clans and opportunists |

## Points of Interest

- **Ancient Cities** and **Ancient Windmills**: windmills spawn randomly and continuously during Ancient City events, with a no-build area around them.
- **Ancient Tower**: loot was reduced in Chapter 2.
- **Totem of Power**: a claimable objective; a fix stopped it resetting while being claimed.
- **Module Fabricator**: has a no-build area around it.
- **Poaching Hut**: 200 m radius, with limits on placing huts near each other.
- **Parkour towers**: have no-build radii; the cradle parkour tower's component drop rate was reduced while burnable chests were buffed.
- **Toxic water lakes** with cattails were added to Kali Spires.

## Economy and Resources

- Early materials: fiber, wood, stone.
- Mid and late materials seen in patch notes: ceramic, chitin, iron, obsidian, nibiran, rupu gel.
- **Traders** profit from moving goods between tiles and oases where supply differs. The game is designed so solo players can prosper as traders, mercenaries or hunters.
- **Maintenance**: owned structures require upkeep; the item maintenance threshold was reduced from 10 to 1 in March 2026.

## Clans vs Solo

- **Clans** can control territory and dominate the economy, and they protect walkers far better.
- **Solo** is viable as a trader, hunter or mercenary. Choose low-traffic tiles, travel light and avoid obvious clan routes.
- Voice chat helps you find groups for big hunts like worms.

## Common Mistakes to Avoid

- **Building big on a tile about to burn.** Check the schedule first.
- **Leaving a walker parked with full cargo.** That is an invitation.
- **Fighting rupu camps early.** They are armed and punish under-geared nomads.
- **Ignoring leg and wing repairs.** Low hull disables replacements entirely.
- **Following pre-Chapter 3 quality advice** after Chapter 3 goes live.
- **Spamming sand structures.** Sand structure HP was cut to 200 and the developers took action against sand spam.

## Advanced Tips

- **Plan the season around the rotation.** Stockpile for event weeks where the best loot and fights happen.
- **Use the PTR.** The team runs Public Test Realms before chapters (the April 2026 PTR used 10x XP and 5x gathering). It is a free way to learn new systems early.
- **Keep an escape walker.** A cheap, fast walker parked away from your main one saves runs.
- **Grapple defense.** Keep someone on deck to cut boarders; most walker losses start with an unopposed boarding.
- **Scout with small walkers**, haul with big ones.
- **Watch patch notes for balance shifts.** Gear and walker balance changes often between chapters.
