AdVenture Capitalist: Complete Idle Strategy Guide
How to grow from a single Lemonade Stand to an interplanetary empire: businesses and managers, milestone unlocks, cash and angel upgrades, when to reset for Angel Investors, the Moon and Mars, events, Gold and MegaBucks, and achievement tips.
Researched September 2026 — current as of AdVenture Capitalist's latest Steam build (the last announced content update was 6.3, August 2018; the game remains free-to-play and supported on Steam). Live games change; check the linked sources if something differs.
Quick Start
- Click the Lemonade Stand, then buy more. Early on, clicking is your income. Buy stands until you can afford a second business.
- Hire managers ASAP. A manager automates a business so it runs without clicks — and keeps earning while you're offline.
- Chase milestones. Owning certain numbers of a business (for example 25, 50, 100) triggers Unlocks that speed it up or multiply profit.
- Buy Cash Upgrades. These are permanent-for-this-run profit multipliers; they're often a better deal than buying more businesses.
- Reset for Angel Investors when it's worth it. Each Angel boosts all profits; resetting early and often is how you accelerate.
- Don't spend Angels carelessly. Angel Upgrades cost Angels, and every Angel you spend is a profit bonus you lose.
- Use the buy x1 / x10 / x100 / Max toggle to hit milestones in one click.
- Visit the Moon and Mars once they unlock — separate economies with their own progression.
- Play events. Limited-time events award Gold, MegaBucks, suits and badges that give permanent bonuses.

Slowest cycle, highest income per cycle |
Each business has:
- Cost — rises with each one you buy.
- Cycle time — how long a production run takes. Milestone Unlocks speed this up.
- Revenue per cycle — scales with how many you own and all multipliers.
The Core Loop
- Buy businesses toward the next milestone.
- Hire managers so everything runs automatically.
- Buy Cash Upgrades as soon as you can afford them.
- Earn Angels (shown in the Angel panel as "claimable on reset").
- Reset when the claimable Angels make your next run meaningfully faster.
- Repeat, reaching milestones faster each time.
Milestone Unlocks
- Owning enough of a single business unlocks speed boosts (cycle time halves) at early thresholds, with profit multipliers at later ones.
- Global unlocks trigger when you own a set number of every business — these multiply all profits, so balanced buying pays off.
- The Unlocks screen shows the next target for each business. Aim for the next milestone rather than spreading purchases evenly across everything.
Managers
- Each business has a manager purchasable with cash; later managers are more expensive.
- Some special managers (bought with Angels or Gold) reduce business costs. Only buy those when the savings are larger than what you lose in Angel bonus.
Angel Investors (Prestige)
- What they do: each Angel adds +2% to all profits by default.
- How you earn them: Angels are calculated from your lifetime earnings; the game shows how many you'll get if you reset now.
- Resetting ("sacrifice" your businesses) wipes businesses, managers and cash upgrades but keeps Angels, Gold, MegaBucks, and permanent bonuses.
When to reset
| Stage |
Reset when... |
| First reset |
The claimable Angels roughly equal or exceed your current total — each reset is then close to doubling your bonus |
| Mid game |
You can gain a meaningful chunk (for example +25–50%) and your progress has slowed |
| Late game |
Progress stalls for a long time and the gain is still notable; resets become rarer as runs take longer |
Community wikis calculate total Angels as roughly 150 × √(lifetime earnings ÷ 10^15), which is why the first quadrillion or so matters so much and why returns diminish.
Angel Upgrades
- Angel Upgrades give big multipliers (e.g., for specific businesses or all profits), but cost Angels.
- Rule of thumb: only buy an Angel Upgrade when its multiplier is clearly larger than the profit bonus from the Angels you'd spend. Many of the best ones are "all profits ×3" style upgrades that dwarf the Angels' +2% contribution.
- Angel Upgrades are lost on reset like Cash Upgrades (you'll rebuy them each run), so time them near the end of a run's early phase.
Cash Upgrades
- Cash Upgrades multiply a specific business or all businesses. The early ones are cheap and powerful — buy them the moment they unlock.
- Late upgrades can give "all profits" multipliers and even boost Angel effectiveness. Check the upgrade list every time you come back from being offline.
Premium and Event Currencies
| Currency |
How to get it |
Best use |
| Gold |
Real money, events, rewards |
Time Warps (instant hours of income), permanent multipliers, special managers |
| MegaBucks |
Events, watching ads, first-time Earth milestones |
Golden Tickets |
| Golden Tickets |
10 MegaBucks each |
Permanently boost one investment's profits by ×7.77 |
Spending priorities (F2P):
- Golden Tickets on your highest-contributing business.
- Permanent multipliers from Gold before one-off Time Warps.
- Time Warps late in a run when your per-second income is highest — they give more value then.
The Moon and Mars
- The Moon is a separate economy with its own businesses (Moon Shoe, Gravity Booth, Payday Clone, Moon Express, Oxygen Bar, Helium-3 Farm, Cheese Mine, Amusement Park, Werewolf Colony, Giant Laser), managers, upgrades and investors.
- Mars is the third planet with its own progression and quirks.
- Each planet progresses independently; your Earth Angels don't transfer.
- Rotate: when Earth's run slows, spend time on the Moon or Mars, then come back.
Events
- Since 2015, AdVenture Capitalist runs limited-time events with their own themed businesses (holidays, sports, arcade, etc.). Events recycle over time.
- Events award Gold, MegaBucks, Suits and Badges.
- Suits give permanent bonuses; since update 6.2 you can mix and match suit pieces for extra bonuses, and duplicates increase bonuses.
- Badges from events have bonuses and can be upgraded with duplicates.
- Events have their own leaderboards; reaching top brackets gives better rewards.
Offline and Idle Tips
- Managers keep earning offline. Before you close the game, make sure every business has a manager.
- Spend when you log back in. Cash sits idle otherwise; clear upgrades and milestones before going offline again.
- Time your resets around long offline stretches — resetting just before bed wastes a night of high income.
Achievements
The Steam version has 31 achievements, mostly tied to business ownership counts, lifetime earnings and Angel milestones. Tips:
- Most are passive; they unlock naturally as you progress.
- Ownership achievements (e.g., owning large counts of a single business) come fastest if you focus buying on one business for a while instead of spreading.
- Cloud saves are supported, so progress follows you between PCs.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Spending Angels on upgrades too early. Early Angels are worth more as the +2% bonus.
- Resetting too rarely. Early resets compound; holding out too long slows total progress.
- Resetting too often later. Late resets need larger gains to be worth the rebuild time.
- Using Time Warps at the start of a run when your income is tiny.
- Ignoring Cash Upgrades. They're usually the best value per dollar.
- Buying evenly across all businesses. Target milestones one at a time.
- Forgetting managers before going offline.
Advanced Tips
- Milestone sniping: Use the Max button with the next milestone in mind; a single milestone can be worth more than dozens of purchases elsewhere.
- Global unlock pushes: when every business is close to the next shared threshold, it's often worth pausing other purchases to hit it.
- Angel math: after each reset, note your total Angels. Resetting when you can add a large percentage keeps growth near-exponential.
- Golden Ticket planning: each ticket is a permanent ×7.77 on one investment that survives resets, so put them where they compound longest (your main income source on each planet) and plan MegaBucks spending around that.
- Planet rotation: park a slow planet with managers and push the one with the fastest current progress.
FAQ
Is AdVenture Capitalist still playable?
Yes. It's free on Steam, supports cloud saves, and keeps earning offline.
How many Angels do I get for resetting?
The game shows the exact number. Community wikis estimate total Angels at about 150 × √(lifetime earnings ÷ 10^15).
What do Angels do?
Each Angel adds +2% to all profits by default. Angel Upgrades spend them for larger multipliers.

What's the best use of MegaBucks?
Golden Tickets (10 MegaBucks each) for permanent profit multipliers.
Is there a sequel?
AdVenture Communist (2016) and AdVenture Ages are Hyper Hippo's follow-ups with different themes.
